Part 2: Deeply Fallen
Who are you, really? In a world that measures worth by appearance, achievement and success, where can we discover our true identity? In this five-part podcast series, Bible teacher Brian Johnston explores what the Bible reveals about ourselves and, above all, what God has done for us through Jesus Christ.
We begin by discovering that we are wonderfully made by God, the Master Craftsman, before confronting the sobering reality that we are deeply fallen through sin and utterly dependent on His grace. We then explore the liberating truth of being fully forgiven through Christ’s once-for-all sacrifice, the extraordinary spiritual blessings believers possess in Him, and the assurance of God’s eternal, unbreakable love—even when life brings suffering and uncertainty.
These foundational truths challenge our assumptions, reshape our perspective and encourage us to see ourselves through God’s Word. Join us as we discover an identity grounded not in what we achieve, but in God’s grace, purpose and faithfulness.

We are letting you know about an event taking place in the Stockport area of Manchester on Saturday 21st November and to share some of the details with you.
The venue is All Hallows Church, 222 Councillor Lane, Cheadle SK8 2JG which has ample space for parking. The doors will open at 2.00pm and refreshments will be served to ‘early birds’ before the event commences promptly at 2.30pm.
The varied programme, entitled ‘Faith, Love & Hope’, is informal throughout. Our main objective is to explore these themes from Paul’s letters to the Thessalonians and so to encourage ourselves to persevere in the face of discouragement and difficulties, looking to the coming of our Lord Jesus.
The event includes an opening talk from Dave Webster entitled ‘Faith that grows through testing’, followed by Karl Smith speaking about ‘Love in Action’; Phil Brennan will conclude with ‘Hope that inspires endurance’.
In addition to the main talks, we are looking forward to hearing brief testimonies of overcoming through faith, love and hope.
We also hope to enjoy some singing together.
A meal will be provided during the afternoon. It would really help in arranging the catering – and particularly if you have any dietary needs – if you could register ahead of time, either online at https://bit.ly/FaithLoveHopeThes (or by scanning the QR code below) or by contacting the team by email at [email protected].
If you would like to attend with young children, Ruth and Shona are standing by to make provision for them throughout the event. We would simply ask that you get in touch to let us know that you intend to be there so that the team can be prepared to cater for the children.
The event is scheduled to be finished by 6.45pm.
We look forward to seeing you there,
