St. Luke's Church, Sway

St. Luke's Church, Sway Come and explore the Christian faith at St Luke’s Church Sway. You are welcome! Welcome! The church is led by Jane Mitchell, our Vicar.

Find us on You Tube - search St Luke’s Church Sway Lymington for our online services at 9.30 and 11am. Small groups meet weekly or fortnightly and are key to the strength of the church. There is an enthusiastic eco church group and a monthly Creative Space group exploring spirituality. We are the only church in Sway and as such you will find villagers of many denominations worshipping and playing

a full role in the life of the church,. We welcome everyone especially if you are exploring faith for the first time. Join us online to visit or come in person! Our church plays an important role in the life of the village. We organise special events within the village, especially at Christmas (outside of our church premises) and are involved in the annual Sway Carnival week. The church building itself was built in 1839 and has had extensions and alterations since then. It can seat about 250 people, but has been known at certain services to squeeze in more! Opposite the church are our Church Rooms and office accommodation. The rooms are used extensively throughout the week by both the church and village groups. They can be hired by the public. Right next to the Church Rooms is the Sway Youth Centre which hosts a number of regular groups including Brownies and a Youth Group run by the Parish Council.

Meeting Jesus anew through the scriptures.
Catch up on talks on YouTube.

Jesus said, “I am the light of the world” while teaching in the temple courts. He spoke to people who knew physical darkness—like the cave’s suffocating blackness where even a hand before the eyes disappears. But His light pierces deeper darkness: the sin that isolates, the shame that paraly...

Rae Reynolds - Textile Artist
Rae has been working with textiles for over 25 years, both as a teacher and maker. Some of you may also know her as Sway's Gardener on a Bike!
When she's not out looking after other people's roses, Rae loves spending time in her garden studio or growing a colourful dye garden.
At May's Creative Space, Rae will share some of her textile work from over the years, and talk about her plans to grow natural dyes from her garden in Sway.
Although there is never an obligation to produce something creatively, you may be inspired to respond on the day. Some art materials will be available, or do bring along your own.
As always, you are very welcome to join us. Session held in the cool of the church. Refreshments served. No membership required. Free event.

St Luke's Church 2-4pm

Creative Space is a monthly group that meets in church seeking spiritual peace and beauty through creativity.

Joint Working Group update - 21 May '26

We are delighted to confirm that the draft heads of terms which were drawn up and recommended by this group, have been formally approved by both Sway Parish Council and St Luke's Parochial Church Council at their respective meetings. Both parties will now instruct their lawyers, as we move to the drafting of the new long lease for the Sway Youth Centre, which we intend to have ready for signing before the end of 2026.

Focus will now turn to the development of proposals for investment in the building and associated funding. We encourage residents to continue their engagement with us in shaping the future of this valued community building. There will be regular updates and opportunities for feedback from residents as the proposals develop.

Please check this page for updates on the latest progress of the Youth Centre Future working group. For any queries, please contact the working group at [email protected] Working Group: Cllr Neil McLocklin, Cllr Astrid Clifford, Cllr Alan Perry, Cllr Justine Thurgood and Cllr Barry Rickm...
