As your local vicar, I carry a deep love for the people of our shared communities. My hope is simply to share something of the goodness I have found in Jesus, not as an idea or obligation, but as a way of living that brings life, hope, and meaning.

I believe that the teachings of Jesus help us to flourish, to become more truly human, grounded in kindness, honesty, compassion, and grace. Faith, at its heart, is not about having all the answers, but about relationship: with God, and with one another.

My calling is to walk alongside you; in the struggles, in the questions, and in the joys that shape our lives. I am here in times of pain and in moments of celebration. I am here to listen, to pray, to support, and to share in whatever burdens or blessings you carry.

The church is not just a place, and a vicar is not just a role. It is about presence, being with people where they are, offering care, hope, and companionship on the journey of life.

Please know that you are not alone. Whatever you are facing, there is space here for you, and I am here for you.

And please know this: I would gladly accept an invitation to share a coffee, to talk, to listen, or simply to be together. Whoever you are, and whatever your story, you are welcome.

Vicar Anthony

LETS BE THE CHURCH

⛪️ Church is not a place you attend, it’s a people you belong to (1 Corinthians 12:12–27; Ephesians 2:19). So let’s join together and live it out in our lives.

Together we can:

👉 Go deeper than surface talk. “Carry each other’s burdens” (Galatians 6:2). Ask, listen, pray, and stand with someone in their real struggles (Romans 12:15).

👉 Choose people over performance. “Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds” (Hebrews 10:24–25). Prioritise relationships over routines (Mark 2:27).

👉 Do life together daily. Share a meal, invite someone for coffee, and walk closely. “They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts” (Acts 2:42–47). Practice hospitality (Romans 12:13).

👉 Serve like Jesus. Get low and love well “I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you” (John 13:14–15; Mark 10:45).

👉 Walk closely, grow faithfully. Invest in people. “Encourage one another and build each other up” (1 Thessalonians 5:11). Pursue maturity together (Colossians 2:6–7).

Jesus didn’t build spectators, He made disciples who lived life together (Matthew 4:19; 28:19–20).

Let’s be the church:

Be devoted (Acts 2:42)
Be united (Ephesians 4:3)
Be loving (John 13:34–35) ❤️
Be growing (2 Peter 3:18) 🌱

Next step: Reach out. Invite someone in. Check on a friend. Join (or start) a small group.
We’re here for you. How can we walk alongside you this week? Comment below or send a DM. 💬👇

It truly saddens me how much our communities have changed.

There was a time when the local church wasn’t just a building, it was the soul of the community. A place where people gathered in joy and in grief, where support was given without question, where hope lived in the everyday. And yet now, so often, these spaces are overlooked… until they are on the brink of disappearing.

When we hear that a church may close, there is shock, sadness, even anger. But the harder truth is this: we had chances to act, to support, to care, and too often, we didn’t. This past week we’ve heard that St David’s Cathedral is facing serious financial difficulty and could be gone within two years. A place of such significance, such presence and yet even that is not immune. But this is not just about one cathedral. This story is being repeated quietly in communities everywhere.

Llangyfelach Church is one of those places that need its community to be part of its care and love. A space deeply filled with history, with a legacy of social response, with stories of hope woven into its very walls. And yet, it too faces these same challenges. We have to ask ourselves, honestly and urgently: what are we willing to do to ensure it does not follow the same path? There’s a myth that “the Church is rich.” The reality couldn’t be further from the truth. Many of these buildings survive week to week, held together not by wealth, but by the love and dedication of a few.

I don’t want to simply place plasters over cracks and pretend that’s enough. I want something deeper than that. I want to help lead communities to rediscover the value of these places, to hold onto them, to breathe life back into them, so that they can once again become the beating heart of the communities they serve. Because these aren’t just old buildings. They are memory. They are belonging. They are hope.

So I’m asking you, don’t wait until it’s too late. Support your local church. Step through the doors. Ask how you can help. Give if you’re able. Volunteer your time. Be part of its life again. Because once they’re gone, they’re gone.

Adopt a grave project 2026

Isabel has finished her GCSE exams and so today she has spent a little time in our graveyard - attending to her m**s adopted grave. A big thank you Isabel and for planting some perennial flowers in the grave to bring some colour and food for wildlife.
