No matter how deep we bury things, they always seem to come to light.
One day, after Moses had grown up, he went out to where his own people were and watched them at their hard labor. He saw an Egyptian beating a Hebrew, one of his own people. 12 Looking this way and that and seeing no one, he killed the Egyptian and hid him in the sand. 13 The next day he went out and saw two Hebrews fighting. He asked the one in the wrong, “Why are you hitting your fellow Hebrew?”
14 The man said, “Who made you ruler and judge over us? Are you thinking of killing me as you killed the Egyptian?” Then Moses was afraid and thought, “What I did must have become known.”
We can try and bury our guilt and shame, our hurt and our sins, but who we really are and what we've done will always come to light.
Often, our guilt and shame leak out of every pore, others can see it, even if we can't.
God is watching. He sees you, He knows you, even the things you try to hide from yourself!
Moses, one of the ancient church's greatest leaders, is a murderer, he thinks he's buried his sin along with the body, but he hasn't.
The truth has a way of coming out, God doesn't let it lie.
But no matter, how deep and dark your past, how ugly the sins lurking in your past, like Moses, you can find forgiveness, peace and purpose in Jesus. Moses fled, but he has a powerful encounter with the living God, and that changes everything, no longer ashamed and running away, he finds purpose and the plan that God has for him.
You don't need to run away, you can find forgiveness and hope in Jesus. Don't write yourself off, run to Jesus and let him change you and start living!
