Appropriately we start September with a service on Sunday 6th in which Pam Cram will be commissioned as Waterways Chaplain here in Clydach/Trebanos! The extent to which 'Living Water' and thoughts about rivers etc. emerge in the rest of the month is down to the preachers: Rev. Louise on the 13th; Pam herself on 20th; and Rev. Andrew Pearce on 27th. Please pray the prayer below, and pray for Waterways Chaplains, and for those leading our worship this month.

Today as we begin the season of Creation we give thanks for streams and rivers, oceans and seas.
We pray that we will use water well and wisely for the good of planet earth and all creatures.

A Rocha is the organisation behind 'Ecochurch'. Some years ago we gained their bronze ecochurch award, and we are part of Capel y Nant's work on gaining the silver award. With the garden at Capel y Nant and harvest services there are opportunities to celebrate Creation with us - or just go out into your garden or local park, canal walk...........

Visited Uniting Church Sketty for this morning's service and to boost their monthly Fairtrade stall with some stock from the Capel y Nant Fairtrade cupboard. Love the clever display in the foyer there, and the flowers by the entrance. Service theme was mission, including a recorded interview with Alice Rutter (whose 100th birthday was a few weeks ago) about her work as a missionary in Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe). As Fiona said in our service in the afternoon, we all have gifts we can use in service to God, whether it's teaching, 'green fingers', being crafty, or (as Fiona said) just helping others and being kind.

Rev. Louise came across this Facebook post about our old chapel building on Hebron Road. We've let them know a bit of the history and that we are still in the village - 'Yma o Hyd'! - even if this building is now residential. Can't disagree that it was very nicely converted, and it is good to see it still loved and care for, unlike so many old chapel buildings, some of which stand derelict for decades even if sold off at the time of closure. The one at the bottom of the Rhyd y Fro hill in Ponty is a case in point - sold back in the 1990's (so don't blame the church for its condition!)

Every time I drive along Clydach Road in Ynystawe, I can't help but admire this beautiful building. I believe it was once a chapel that has since been converted into a home, and I think it's one of the best looking conversions I've seen.

Does anyone know the full story behind it?

When did it stop being a chapel? Does anyone remember attending services there or have any old photos or memories of the building before it became a home?

I'd love to hear the history behind it, so please share your memories in the comments.
