A grassroots movement
Local lay people called 'stewards' take responsibility for the fabric of church buildings and manses and for the handling of money. They share with ordained ministers the role of setting direction for the churches in a particular area or 'circuit'. Worship each week is not always led by an ordained minister, but often by a local preacher - a lay person who has been trained and authorized to lead worship and preach. Every ordained minister in the Methodist Church was first a local preacher.

Twenty years ago, I walked through the doors of Boldmere Methodist Church completely by accident. I wasn’t a churchgoer, I was simply dropping my daughter off for Church Parade, expecting to wait on the doorstep!
Instead, I stepped inside and found an incredible sanctuary away from the busy rush of the week: laughter, genuine warmth, and a community that quickly became family. From celebrating life’s happiest milestones to quietly carrying each other through the toughest times, this fellowship has meant the world to me.
If you’ve ever wondered what’s behind these doors, or if you simply need a peaceful, friendly space to leave the week behind, you are always welcome here.
Join us any Sunday at 10:00am come just as you are, stay for a cuppa and a chat afterwards. Our doors are wide open, and we’d love to welcome you!

What a beautiful afternoon of fellowship and creativity! 🎨✨
A massive thank you to everyone who joined us for our acrylic painting workshop this afternoon. It was an absolute joy to step away from the busyness of the week, pick up our brushes, and explore our creative sides together.
Looking around the room, it was a wonderful reminder of how art can bring us together, spark conversation, and provide a peaceful space to connect. Whether it was your first time holding a paintbrush or you paint all the time, every single person created a masterpiece!
My cup is absolutely overflowing with joy from spending the afternoon with such a wonderful group. Thank you for your energy, your laughs, and your beautiful creations.

A huge thank you to Erdington Methodist Church for the wonderfully warm welcome this morning! It was fantastic to come together for our joint service with our friends from Kingstanding, Nechells, and Boldmere.
The service was beautiful, centering on the powerful theme of "Church Without Walls." We were reminded that people might not always remember what you say or do, but they will always remember how you made them feel. Thank you to everyone who made us feel so welcome and inspired today! ❤️⛪✨

“My Song is Love Unknown" – Good Friday Reflections at Boldmere ✨

Today at Boldmere Methodist, we gathered to walk the final, difficult steps toward the cross. Our Good Friday service, led by Rev Collins, was a profound journey of silence, scripture, and song.

We were led through the powerful words of:
📖 The Suffering Servant (Isaiah 52-53) read by Margaret
📖 Psalm 22 – A cry of desolation. Delivered by Derek
📖 Hebrews 10 – The way opened. Read by Elsie
📖 The Passion Narrative (John 18-19) – Read by our much valued worship leader, Chris.

In the Silence:
The weight of these readings was held in sacred silence, broken only by the timeless hymns that carried our prayer:
🎶 "Man of Sorrows! What a Name"
🎶 "When I Survey the Wondrous Cross"
🎶 "Were You There When They Crucified My Lord?"

Thank you, Rev Collins, and our many readers, for leading us in this important act of remembrance. We are grateful for your leadership and the shared silence of this afternoon.

As we hold this silence, we hold onto the promise that the story is not over.

Hosanna in the Highest! 🌿🐴

What a wonderful morning at Boldmere Methodist as we celebrated Palm Sunday!

We remembered Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem—not on a war horse, but on a humble donkey. It was a morning filled with waving palms, powerful hymns, and the reminder that the King we follow is a King of peace and humility.

As we move into Holy Week:
Let’s carry that "Hosanna" in our hearts, even as the journey ahead leads us toward the cross.
