A message from Becky…

Most of you will know that it’s me who posts on this page, so it falls to me to give thanks for the last 6 years at St Peter’s.

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for the beautiful cards, gifts, words, cake, food, drink and hugs I’ve received today.

St Peter’s is a very precious church family and I’m so excited to see how God will bless you in the future.

In the meanwhile, we need someone else to take on editing the page so we can continue to reach our community…

We were so very sorry to learn of the death of the Revd Canon Peter Fisher. Peter was Vicar at St Peter’s 2002-2010 and is remembered with great fondness. Some of us gathered in church to watch the livestream of his funeral which took place in Durham Cathedral today. May he rest in peace and rise in glory 🙏

Today we gave thanks for Lay Ministries in our church by commissioning our Eucharistic ministers. We also gave thanks for Sheila Richmond, Reader Emeritus at St Peter’s, as her Reader’s scarf and badge were laid at the altar by her stepson Jonathan.

May she rest in peace and rise in glory.

We are very sad to share the news that Sheila Richmond, Reader at St Peter's since 2006 and lifetime member of the congregation, died on Easter Monday. Sheila has shown great devotion to St Peter's Church for her whole life, having been a member of the choir, learning to play the organ, supporting the ministry and mission of the church and being a good friend to many. Please join us to celebrate Sheila's life at her funeral in St Peter's Church on Wednesday 6th May at 11.30am. Refreshments will be served in the hall after the service.

During the 10.30am service tomorrow, Sheila was to have been made Reader Emeritus. We will be honouring her memory by continuing with her chosen readings and hymns. All are welcome.
