STAND FIRM IN RIGHTEOUSNESS

For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe (Hebrews 5:13).

PASTOR CHRIS OYAKHILOME DSc. DSc. DD.

There are Christians who sincerely love the Lord yet struggle to exercise consistent victory in their lives. They pray, fast and desire to grow spiritually but often find themselves intimidated by circumstances or continually battling the same challenges over and over again. The reason is not always a lack of zeal; often, it's a lack of understanding of righteousness.

We read in our opening scripture that “…every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe.” This shows that spiritual maturity is connected to an understanding of righteousness. The one who doesn't understand the doctrine of righteousness remains spiritually unskilled.

You may know many things about Christianity, but if you don’t have the right understanding of your righteousness in Christ, you won't be proficient in the use of God's Word to maintain the life of dominion and constant victories we’ve been given in Christ. The lack of understanding of righteousness is the reason some Christians approach God with a consciousness of guilt, unworthiness, or condemnation.

What God wants is for you to be established in righteousness. Walk in the light of your righteousness. Stand boldly on God's Word. Never wonder whether or not you qualify for God’s blessings or deserve His help. Such thinking robs you of confidence and hinders the effective exercise of your faith.

Righteousness-consciousness gives you boldness. It gives you the confidence to stand in God’s presence without fear, inferiority, or condemnation. When you understand that you've been made the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, you won’t relate to God on the basis of your performance but on the basis of Christ's perfection.

This is why every Christian must be established in the doctrine of righteousness. Study and meditate on the truth that Christ is your righteousness. Let it become the consciousness of your spirit because the more you understand who you are in Christ, the more effective you'll be in exercising your authority in Him.

You were not made righteous because of your good works, nor do you maintain righteousness through your human effort. Therefore, refuse to live with a sense of inadequacy or spiritual insecurity. Stand firm in the righteousness God has given you and exercise your dominion with confidence.

CONFESSION
I’m the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, and I walk in the consciousness of my right standing with God and exercise my authority boldly in Christ. God’s Word builds my faith and prevails in my life today. I understand and live in the reality of my new life in Christ. Amen.

YOU HAVE ACCESS TO THE FATHER
(It’s The Father’s Good Pleasure To Hear You)

TO THE BIBLE - John 15:16
“You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you."

LET’S TALK
The Old Testament folks always had to resort to the prophets and seers to enquire of the Lord. It wasn’t a common revelation amongst the people to talk directly to God in prayer and expect to receive an answer from Him. However, when Jesus came, He made it clear that it was the Father’s desire for us to boldly and confidently talk directly to the Father in prayer and receive answers: “And in that day you will ask Me nothing. Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My Name He will give you. Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full” (John 16:23-24).

The “day” that the Lord Jesus spoke of isn’t a twenty-four-hour day but a dispensation, a season, a set time in which you could make requests and receive answers to your prayers. Thanks be unto God! This is that set time! We’ve come into “that day” that Jesus was referring to. If you’re born again, you have the privilege of being able to pray and receive the answers to your prayers instantly: “...whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them” (Mark 11:24).

There’s no need to look for someone to pray to God for you; there’s no need to cry and keep reminding God of your troubles: just ask in faith and in the Name of Jesus, and your requests will be granted. Whether it’s about your grades, your future career, your friendships, or whatever, you can talk to Him directly. Always remember that it’s the Father’s delight to answer your prayers; it’s His good pleasure to give you the wonderful treasures of His kingdom (Luke 12:32). So, ask boldly. Believe confidently. Receive joyfully. Glory to God!

GO DEEPER
John 16:26-27 At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you: [27] For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God.

Matthew 21:22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

PRAY
Heavenly Father, I thank you for the privilege and opportunity to fellowship with you in prayer and make my requests known unto you. I rejoice at your Word that lets me know that your ears are attentive to my requests and that it’s your good pleasure to grant my heart’s desires. Thank you for this wonderful blessing and privilege, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

THE NAME OF JESUS IS YOUR AUTHORITY

John 14:13
And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do...

The Name of Jesus isn’t ordinary—it’s your authority. When you use the Name of Jesus, it’s like Jesus Himself is speaking. The Bible says God gave Jesus a Name above every name (Philippians 2:9-11). This means everything listens to His Name.

In the Bible, Peter said, “…in the Name of Jesus…rise up and walk,” and the man was healed (Acts 3:6-8). That same power is given to you!

You can use the Name of Jesus when you pray, when you’re faced with a diffi cult task, or when you need help with anything. Use the Name with faith and boldness, knowing that His Name works. Remember, you have victory through the Name of Jesus every day.

SCRIPTURE READING
Mark 16:17-18 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; [18] They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

LET'S PRAY
Dear precious Father, thank you for giving me the authority to use the Name of Jesus. As I live and use the Name, I see changes in and around me, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Dear Brethren
Every situation has three dimensions; Your views, People's views and the Truth. Success goes with the one who follows the Truth. The difference between seasons in a man's life is simply an instruction.
This spirit of trying to out-do others is wrong! Out-do your past and out-do yourself. Stop trying to out-do someone else because you don't know the kind of journey God has given that person to run.
We need to recognize that our accomplishments don't make us better or worse than others. God doesn't value us or define us by what we do; He looks at our hearts and why we do what we do.

NO HOPELESS SITUATIONS WITH YOU
(They’re Your Opportunities)

TO THE BIBLE - Mark 9:23
“Jesus said to him, ‘If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.’”

LET’S TALK➡️
As Jane dropped her backpack on the couch, she sighed deeply: “I don’t think this can ever change,” she muttered. “I’ve tried everything.”
Her older brother, Derek, looked up from his Bible: “Everything?” he asked with a smile. “Did you try God’s way?”
Jane frowned: “What do you mean? This is a hopeless
situation!”

Derek shook his head gently: “Hopeless to whom? From man’s perspective, maybe. But with God, there’s no such thing as a hopeless situation.”

As a young person who’s born again, you’re not meant to react to life the way everyone else does. You’ve been called to function by divine principles. That means you don’t panic when things go wrong; you respond with faith. The life in you is the life of a victor. You were born to reign, even in your classroom, on your campus, in your workplace, and among your peers. When someone says, “There’s no way you can pass that,” or “You’ll never make it,” don’t be discouraged. Get excited! That’s your opportunity to put your faith to work. Pray. Declare God’s Word over your situation.

Speak life instead of fear. Say, “The greater One lives in me. I’m an overcomer. I can do all things through Christ!” God loves to see you stand strong. The Bible says His wisdom is revealed through us. Every time you refuse to give up, every time you choose faith over fear, you’re showing the world—and even the spiritual realm—that the power of God is real and active in your life.
Remember, the inherent dynamic ability to turn hopeless situations around came into your life when you received the Holy Spirit. That confidence you need, that turnaround in your family or academics—it’s not out of reach. This is the set time to demonstrate the life of victory that God has brought you into. Praise God!

Go Deeper:
Matthew 17:20; James 5:17-18

Speak
I can never be disadvantaged in this life because the greater
One lives in me, and He’s given me the inherent dynamic ability to change hopeless situations. I have the power and wisdom to turn every unfavourable situation around for my good, to the glory of the Father! Every challenging situation that I face is an opportunity for me to demonstrate my faith and manifest the glory of God. Hallelujah.

See From God’s View

📖2 Corinthians 4:18
While we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen… the things which are not seen are eternal .

God wants you to look beyond what your eyes can see. This means trusting His Word and believing what He says, even when things look different. When you see this way, you stay confident in God’s promises.

In the Bible, John was told to “come up” so he could see from God’s view (Revelation 4:1). God’s Word helps you see that you’re special, healthy, and victorious in Christ.

The Bible says we walk by faith, not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7). So, believe
and act on God’s Word, and you’ll live in joy, success, and peace every day.

UNDERSTAND WHO IS BEING ADDRESSED

Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law... (Romans 3:19).

PASTOR CHRIS OYAKHILOME DSc. DSc. DD.

One of the most important principles for understanding the Scriptures is recognising contexts and target audience. Some become confused in their study of God's Word when they read verses without considering their actual context, audience, and purpose.

Not everything written in Scripture applies to the new creation. The Apostle Paul demonstrated this clearly in Romans chapter three. After quoting several passages that described the condition of those under the Law, he made a remarkable statement: “Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law...” (Romans 3:19).

Did you notice that? The Law spoke to those who were under its jurisdiction. Paul wanted this understanding to be clearly established, and it’s vital because many have read the declaration, “...There is none righteous, no, not one” (Romans 3:10), and assumed it applies equally to everyone today, including those who are born again. But Paul wasn't describing the new creation in Christ. He was presenting the Law's verdict on those who lived under the old covenant. The context makes this unmistakably clear.

When you understand who is being addressed, the Scriptures become clearer and more meaningful. You learn to distinguish between the Law and grace, between the Old Testament and the New Testament, and between what was spoken concerning man's condition apart from Christ and what is true of those who are now in Christ. This prevents confusion and helps you to rightly comprehend and apprehend God's truth.

The Bible is a progressive unveiling of God's redemptive plan. Therefore, it's important to follow the flow of revelation in the Scriptures. Don't isolate a verse from its context and build your understanding around it. Study the whole counsel of God and allow Scripture to interpret Scripture. The Bible says, “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15).

As a child of God, always study and receive the Word in the light of your identity in Christ and the realities of the new creation. That's how God's Word produces faith, confidence and victories in your life.

PRAYER

Dear Father, thank you for the light of your Word and the ministry of the Holy Spirit who guides me into all truth. As I study the Scriptures, I receive understanding and insight into mysteries and realities of the Kingdom. I rightly comprehend, apprehend, and apply your Word, and I walk in the blessings, liberty and righteousness that belong to me in Christ Jesus. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY

2 Timothy 2:15 AMPC;

YOUR HEAVENLY FATHER IS BIG
(Dream Big)

TO THE BIBLE - Genesis 37:5
“Now Joseph had a dream, and he told it to his brothers; and they hated him even more."

LET’S TALK
There are no laws in heaven or on earth against dreaming big. So, as a Christian, you’re at liberty to dream and dream big. Let your dream of success be big enough for God to get involved with it. That’s why I love the man Joseph in the Bible. As a young lad, his dreams were out of this world! He was basically a teenager talking about leadership and influence while still living under his father’s roof. Though his brothers hated him for all his extraordinary dreams of greatness, he kept on dreaming and telling them about his dreams.

A teenager with a big dream can attract God’s attention. That’s why even in prison, Joseph kept rising to the top. He eventually became the prime minister of Egypt and preserved both Egypt and several other nations from famine. It’s time for you to dream and dream big. It’s a decision you must make. Dream big about your academics, your creative gifts, your tech ideas, your ministry, your influence.

Stretch your vision. Refuse to put your mind to sleep; keep dreaming! See yourself doing big things. Have a different way of thinking. Your Heavenly Father is big, and His resources are limitless. Not only is He able to cause your visions of success to come to pass, but He’s also more willing and enthusiastic about your success than you could ever be. Glory to God!

GO DEEPER
Isaiah 54:2-3 Enlarge the place of thy tent, and let them stretch forth the curtains of thine habitations: spare not, lengthen thy cords, and strengthen thy stakes; [3] For thou shalt break forth on the right hand and on the left; and thy seed shall inherit the Gentiles, and make the desolate cities to be inhabited.

Genesis 37:9-11 And he dreamed yet another dream, and told it his brethren, and said, Behold, I have dreamed a dream more; and, behold, the sun and the moon and the eleven stars made obeisance to me. [10] And he told it to his father, and to his brethren: and his father rebuked him, and said unto him, What is this dream that thou hast dreamed? Shall I and thy mother and thy brethren indeed come to bow down ourselves to thee to the earth? [11] And his brethren envied him; but his father observed the saying.

SPEAK
My mind is continually open to receiving new ideas. I refuse to see myself as small in life, for the God I serve is the limit-breaker! I see my greatness, my increase and my influence bursting forth on every side, in the Name of Jesus! Amen.

YOU’RE GOD’S CHILD

1 John 4:4
You are of God, little children… because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.

The moment you were born again, God became your Father, and you became His child. That makes you special, different, and full of His life.Jesus knew He came from God, so He spoke and acted with confi dence (John 6:38). In the same way, you should always remember where you came from—God! The Bible says you’re a child of the Most High (Psalm 82:6).So speak and act like God’s child—full of faith, love, and confi dence. You belong to Him, and His life in you makes you strong and victorious every day.

GRACE AND TRUTH CAME BY JESUS CHRIST

For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ (John 1:17).

PASTOR CHRIS OYAKHILOME DSc. DSc. DD.

The Bible reveals a striking contrast between what came through Moses (the Law) and what came through Jesus Christ—grace and truth. This wasn't merely a change in doctrine or religious practice; it was the unveiling of God's ultimate answer to man's deepest need.

The Law had a purpose. It exposed sin, revealed man's inability to attain righteousness through his own efforts and showed the need for a Saviour. But the Law couldn't impart life, produce righteousness or bring man into fellowship with God. It identified the problem but couldn't provide the solution.

Then came the Lord Jesus; through Him, grace and truth were unveiled. Grace is God's loving disposition toward man expressed through the gift of salvation. God acted on our behalf, not because we deserved it but because He loved us. He made the Lord Jesus to be sin for us so that we might be made righteous.

Truth is the revelation of God's reality in Christ, the unveiling of who He is, what He accomplished and who we have become in Him. This is why the Gospel is so glorious. The Lord Jesus didn't merely tell us about righteousness; He made us righteous. He didn't simply expose sin; He removed its power and penalty. He didn't merely show us the way to God; He brought us into union and fellowship with the Father and made us the way to Him for the sinner.

What the Law could never produce, grace made possible through the Lord Jesus Christ. Through faith in Him, we've been justified, declared righteous, and brought into right standing with God. This is the blessing of the New Testament. The Bible says, “Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins: And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses” (Acts 13:38-39).

Today, we don’t relate to God through rules and regulations but through grace and truth. You've been brought into a living relationship with Him through the Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, walk in His grace, His truth and His righteousness that He’s freely bestowed on you.

PRAYER
Dear Father, I rejoice in the blessings of my righteousness, eternal life and fellowship with you, which I've received through the Lord Jesus. I walk in the reality of who I am in Christ, in the fullness of your grace, wisdom, righteousness and truth, in Jesus' Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY

John 1:16-17 KJV;
And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace. [17] For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

Romans 3:21-22 KJV;
