One of Sunderland’s most distinctive modern places of worship.

Masjid e Anwaar e Madinah on St Mark’s Road was built through years of fundraising and donations from the city’s Pakistani community. It became Sunderland’s first mosque with a dome and minarets, replacing the much smaller converted flats previously used for prayer.

As well as serving worshippers, the mosque welcomes schools, universities and community groups for visits and sessions exploring Islam and the role of the masjid.

🌙 EID UL ADHA ANNOUNCEMENT 🌙

Anwaar e madina Mosque and Islamic Centre Sunderland to announce that Eid Ul Adha will be observed on Wednesday 27th May 2026, following the confirmed sighting of the crescent moon of Zul Hijjah.

IN SHAA ALLAH Eid prayer time will be announced later.

May Allah Most High accept our عبادات, sacrifices and duas, and grant peace and blessings to the whole Muslim Ummah. Ameen Suma aamin.
