services are held on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month at 9.15am.

We are ably supported by our Team Rector Rev Ian Fleming and Curate Rev Lesley Stear We are a friendly church with a long history in the parish of Stubbins. Currently we hold services of Holy Communion on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month at 9.15am

100 years ago today the foundation stone of St.Philip’s Church, Stubbins, was laid before a great crowd including The Right Revd. John Charles Hill, Bishop of Hulme & Rector of Bury,by Mrs. Annie Louise Porritt of The Cliffe (now Lavender Hills). The Porritt family can be identified, seated on the Bishop’s right hand.
Joan Davenport, Margaret’s youngest aunt and known to most of our community, as one of the youngest Sunday School scholars, presented flowers to Mrs. Porritt whom, throughout Joan’s long life, she remembered wearing a green dress on the day. On behalf of the men of the Mission Room my mother’s uncle, Capt. Will Turnbull, presented to Mrs. Porritt a silver commemorative trowel and we still have the speech with which he did so.
On Sunday 14th June at our 9.15am service we shall give thanks for this historic day, include the same hymns and look forward with others joyfully.

It was a privilege to pay homage to His Majesty The King at Buckingham Palace.

I give thanks for His Majesty’s deep Christian faith, demonstrated in his life of service to our nation and the Commonwealth. I was conscious today of having paid homage to the King's late mother, Queen Elizabeth II, when I became Bishop of London.

I am grateful for his support of the Church of England as I now begin this new ministry as the Archbishop of Canterbury.
