Stroud Christian Fellowship

Stroud Christian Fellowship Stroud Christian Fellowship is a growing family that expresses the love and compassion of Jesus in our lives together and in our communities.

Our vision is for the communities of Stroud district and beyond to experience the unconditional love of Jesus
Join us on Sunday mornings at 10:30 at The Citadel, 27 Acre Street, Stroud GL5 1DR.
Free parking in the Parliament Street car park, GL5 1DP. We believe church should be in the community and for the community. We believe that church is people, not a building or a Sunday service, so whilst

we meet together on Sunday morning, we think church should be about getting actively involved in our communities too. We have a strong commitment to Stroud district and a large proportion of us are involved with the many social concern and inter-church projects in the area, including Tiddlywinks, The Door, Food Bank, Street Pastors, Ignition and Churches Together in Stroud. We are part of the Salt & Light network of churches, and members of the Evangelical Alliance.

Thursday evening - a Hustings with a difference. Are you fed up with the poor level of debate in this election campaign? Well, we promise you a much more interesting debate as our local Prospective Parliamentary Candidates are asked questions addressing some of the moral issues which are not getting much of hearing in this election - questions about poverty, the war in Gaza, the climate emergency, international aid, assisted dying, decriminalising abortion, the wealth gap, gender issues and social care.
Those attending are Siobhan Baillie (Conservative), Dr Simon Opher (Labour), Pete Kennedy (Green), George James (Lib Dem) and Jason Hughes (VOLT UK). Simon Helme is in the chair.
7pm at St Laurence Church, Stroud

BROKEN! The Brimscombe Mill community is being lost to become warehousing. This statement is a call to action and a need for community resilience ✊

In a surprising development, all of the social enterprises at Brimscombe Mill no longer have a home due to the property's unexpected sale. This space, which we've lovingly enhanced with hundreds of thousands in renovations, is more than a venue. It embodies our commitment to this community.

This is a shock to us all. We had been trying to engage with our old landlord to purchase the building or extend the lease, but he sold it in secret without any chance to counter. We have spoken to the new landlord, but he has no interest in letting us stay on site.

We are exploring other options for a home but we haven’t found anything viable yet. This puts all of the social enterprises and 53 jobs at risk.

This isn’t just the end of our lease, it’s a matter of land justice, impacting a community built on countless hours renovating the property, and significant investment in materials. This community asset is at risk of being lost due to the way land laws work and the way the broken “system” works. It doesn’t feel transparent, fair or right - and now we face destruction.

This isn’t the first time we’ve faced adversity as a community, and we’ll pull through it together. So, if you want to help, here’s some action you can take:

HELP US THRIVE
Until we move on, let’s thrive! Come in for a meal, buy furniture, get your bike repaired and buy some kids’ stuff. Support local jobs and your community.

JOIN OUR RELOCATION EVENTS
To help us work out what we can do next we will be hosting a couple of events in the Sanctuary space at Brimscombe Mill:

1️⃣ What’s next for the Brimscombe Mill community? - Thursday 21st March, 6-8pm.
2️⃣ Community Planning Session - Wednesday 10th April, 6-8pm

Head to The Brimscombe Mill for further information: websitehttps://www.brimscombe-mill.org.uk/warehouseupdate

Knowing that traditional performances can be difficult for some people to attend, this year we are offering a special relaxed version of our main circus performance - Magnificat! - at 5pm on Friday 17th November at St Laurence Church, the Stroud Centre for Peace & the Arts.

It’s aimed especially at those who would otherwise struggle to see our main show along with their carers and any family members (or a supportive friend), experienced helpers will be on hand.

Whilst completely free the spaces are limited so you must reserve in advance to attend at https://ow.ly/OBCY50PRn5k
