Hoy and Walls Kirk Hoy and Walls Kirk is found in Kirkside beside the B9047, near Longhope village. It belongs to Orkney Islands Church of Scotland. Services are held at 11 a.m.

each Sunday, and all visitors are most welcome. Hoy and Walls Church of Scotland is centred in Kirkside, in Longhope Village. Our worship, in the Scottish Presbyterian tradition, takes place at 11 am each Sunday morning. About once a month our preacher is a minister, most often our Interim Moderator Rev Dr Marjory MacLean, who is the minister of South Ronaldsay and Burray Church. Visiting minister

How do we cope with that hardest of tasks of every Christian, to be the prophetic voice for love and justice in the struggling world? And what do we expect if we ignore the responsibility and hope it just goes away?
The service on Sunday 6 Sept is live-streamed between St Margaret's in the Hope and Kirkside in Longhope, and is conducted by the minister.

It's Communion Sunday this week at Kirkside, Longhope. All are warmly welcome to our service at 11 a.m. And anyone from any branch of the Christian Church is welcome to participate as fully as your own tradition enables you to do. The Service will be conducted by the Minister.

Can I commend to church members this notice from the Orkney Islands parish. It's always worth developing your thinking about the faith, and this group will provide a safe space within our familiar traditions to do that.

Join Our Autumn Reading Group
This September, we are continuing the ecumenical reading group on-line and would welcome anyone looking for a fresh voice and inspiration to step out in faith. We’ll be reading Rewilding the Church by Steve Aisthorpe — a book which encourages Christians to be led by the Spirit and find a capacity way beyond imagination.
Whether you’re a seasoned book group participant or simply curious, you’re welcome to join the conversation. Together, we’ll look for inspiration in the ecological concept of rewilding, an approach to the environment that allows nature to break free from the dulling effects of strategic control and bring wonder back into our lives.
Please contact Rev Julia Meason at [email protected] or Stuart Little at [email protected], if you’d like to be part of our group. We’ll start on Thursday 24 September at 7 pm and will be meeting fortnightly on Zoom.
Let’s read, think, pray, and imagine what might happen if we put less faith in our strategies and plans, which inevitably depend on our own capabilities and resources, and allow the Spirit to lead us beyond our capacity to imagine.

As we approach fuschia time in Orkney, and the grass is at its waviest, the Gospel reading this Sunday is the parable of the wheat and the tares. Which of these is any of us, or are we perhaps a weird mash-up of both (and what use is that)?
Our service at 11 a.m. will be live-streamed from St Margaret's Church in the Hope over to Kirkside in Longhope, and in both places visitors will be scooped up in welcome and coffee-d afterwards.

Who in your life just seems to be an agent for sheer goodness? Who keeps you hopeful for your world?
On Sunday, in Kirkside Longhope and live-streamed over the St Margaret's at the Hope, our service at 11 a.m. celebrates this theme. Summer visitors are warmly welcome, new attenders from our islands bring us joy, and the post-church refreshments are all part of the experience.
