Strathblane Churchyard

Hi Everyone. I Apologise for not being able to answer your messages. Over the last month my mothers health has deteriorated and last Sunday she left us after a full life attaining the age of 90.

I do these pages covering 9 local cemeteries for free. Im more than happy to send photos Ive taken to whoever wants them and I dont ask for anything for them.

My mother over the last 6 years has been given the best end of life care anyone can wish for at The St Margaret of Scotland Hospice in Clydebank.

The hospice is one third NHS funded and two thirds a charity. The cost of living crisis across all hospices in the UK, coupled with rising costs means that some of the bedrooms remain empty. People who badly require this kind of care cannot get access to it due to funding issues.

Please, no matter how small, could you please give whatever you can to this tremendous charity so that other people can receive the superb care that was afforded to my mother.

Thats all the headstones that I have photographed, transcribed. Unfortunately quite a number the stones in section one (oldest part) are covered with moss and cannot be read.

In total I have recorded 1,227 names from the 871 photographs that i took

Section 2 has now been transcribed. The database now holds the names of 1,013 people interred in the cemetery.

That is section 1 fully photographed and transcribed for the headstones that could be read. In total 523 names have been recorded and date from the late 1790's to present day. There are numerous flat lying stones that are covered in moss that cannot be read

Made a start transcribing the headstones in Section 1. 300 names transcribed. It took a few hours as this is the oldest part of the cemetery and some of the stones were difficult to read. I used Scotland's people website to confirm some details.

Stirling Council Archives: This churchyard comes under the jurisdiction of Stirling Council.

We hold the records of Council and Community from the 14th century and visits to the Archives Search Room are free.
