What a day! I'm horse with excitement (and over singing) as Jill and Mark gave us a brilliant Ukulele Sing-along afternoon. We sang out loud, rattled our instruments and also had a go at doing the actions to the songs. A fantastic afternoon to start our Care Home Open Week!
Come in and see us if you can this week!

We kicked off Care Home Open Week with a visit from the Finborough and Buxhall Under 5's. The Children came to have a go at our Gnome Trail. Some of our family (Christina, Roger, Ena and Sheila) also came outside to join in the fun. Climbing Fiery Fred was their favorite, although everyone felt sorry for Grumpy because he was covered in mud! The children popped inside for a drink, biscuit and chat with our family. Great start to the week!

It was Come Sing With Us Today, and we had two relatives come and join in with us this time. Everybody had a choice of tune, and Rachel M started a Mexican Wave off and we had the percussion out with Vanessa leading us all in song and prayer. A fantastic afternoon together!

It's been a funny day of weather here at Finborough. Sun, sunny rain and dark brooding sky's. The home looks beautiful in the sun! We had the shop trolly out this afternoon for our family to grab some bargains. Top seller today wasn't the KitKat's, it was the shower gel.

We did thirty minutes of exercise songs and then settled down to some relaxing water colour painting. Our family could chose to go original, with a stormy weather scene. Or pick out a printed line drawing to colour. We had some beautiful creations and work. Well do everyone on a wet and dull afternoon.

It was one of our mad afternoons again. We did some horse racing, egg box pitching, fast roll drop, and throwing balls at Simon who had wrapped himself in double sided tape. Just a normal day at Finborough! The ladies particularly like trying to hit Simons tummy. Russell had made us some beautiful wooden horses to race by pulling the string across the floor, everyone had a good giggle and enjoyed the activity. The staff also got involved and we had a very competitive Euan and Taurai racing a horse.

What a busy Wednesday we had! Barry the photographer was busy gathering photo's for The Pilgrims Friend Society, catching us doing our thing! And some cheeky grins and poses from our Family Members. We even got Barry on our gnome spotting tour! In the afternoon we had Maria come and help us make birthday cards, showing us clever techniques with gold trim and stenciling.

We had a simple afternoon together, passing around the microphone and talking about the jobs we used to do. We learned all about Enid and her shop work, and that she made 3in1 Oil in Stowmarket. Olive travelled to Kent to be a Nanny crossing London by herself. Joyce worked for RAF and could read Morse Code, Peggy also worked for RAF, and travelled to Bungy to work for 'Clays' the printers there. We had postmistresses, kitchen assistants, insurance, NHS bookings and teachers. But the high light must go to Christina, who was a Bingo Caller at a care home!
She also is a whizz at table tennis (see clip from yesterday).

Yesterday we did some chair exercises to warm us up for an activity Jean requested... Table Tennis! Christina started the ball rolling, and despite the awful net (don't make um like they used to) all started well. Then Ena (who said she didn't know what to do) proceeded to run Simon ragged, with out breaking a sweat. After a dripping ACE needed to sit down, She next started trashing Euan! A fantastic, if exhausting afternoon that amused the Family watching.
