Stow Minster - onward

From all of us at St Mary’s, we would like to thank you all for your heart felt messages, both on line and greeting us in Stow.

We have all felt mixture of sadness, anger and disappointment. There is work to be done repairing, replacing and renewing, we may have stumbled but not fallen.

Tonight the eight bells of Stow Minster will ring out from 7:30, announcing we shall not be driven into silence, as we once more open our doors to all.

St Mary’s Stow Minster - Break in and Entry

Unfortunately, St Mary’s will be closed for the immediate future, as our church yesterday was subject to a break in and entry, and items stolen. This is now the subject of a Police incident.

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience our closure may cause.

Stow Minster - Oak & Iron

St Marys, is a church of many rooms, though to access one must first open one of her many doors of Oak and Iron. Some are well known, other less so. What would be waiting behind these few?

Hope UK - Awaken 2026 28th - 31st August

Hope UK is a drug education charity - equipping young people to make drug-free choices. Known previously as The Band of Hope they have been working with young people for nearly 170 years.
Hope UK will be at this years Awaken event at the Lincolnshire Showground from 28th to 31st August.

St Marys - welcomes good news

We are delighted to write, that all donations taken have been returned, and thank you, to all who held our lady in your prayers.

Theft at St Mary’s Stow

It is sad to write that between 3:30pm and 7pm yesterday, when Stow Minster was being prepared to be locked for the night, it was discovered that the donations chest had been broken into, and contents taken.

The culprit(s) are not known, bad enough if it was an opportunist visiting St Mary’s for the first time, but unthinkable that it was anyone from our community.

St Mary’s is open year round to welcome all who seek a place of solace and quiet prayer, or marvel at her architecture. Long may this continue as such acts only strengthen our resolve and vigilance.

26th July Sung Compline - "Haylock Consort"

Thank you to the "Haylock Consort", for sharing their sensational voices in the recent Sung Compline at Stow Minster. We would highly recommend attending any of their events. Sunday 2nd August 3.00pm - Organ recital by Sean Maxwell

Take some time away from the heat, and join us at St Mary’s listening to a programme of music, played by a native of West Virginia (USA), Sean Maxwell. Sean has performed in more than 20 countries, as well as leading period instrument orchestra in Los Angeles. He is titular organist of the Benedictine Monastery Sao Bento da Vitoria in Portugal.
