We asked Anita to encourage us to pray for the global church and here is how she replied:
I was reminded in a recent Open Doors piece that like Epaphras (Col 4:12), who laboured in prayer for the early believers, we too are called to intercede for our brothers and sisters facing persecution. They are not distant strangers; they are part of the same body of Christ that we belong to, our brothers and sisters in Christ.
Two scriptures that encourage me to pray for our persecuted brothers and sisters are:
“Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.” (Eph 6:18)
“Is there any encouragement from belonging to Christ? Any comfort from his love? Any fellowship together in the Spirit? Are your hearts tender and compassionate? Then make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one mind and purpose.” (Philippians 2:1-2)
Our prayers are a source of encouragement.
