THE GOSPEL: DEFINED
William Tyndale wrote, "Evangelion" (that we call the gospel) is a Greek word that signifies good, merry, glad, and joyful tidings, that makes a man's heart glad and makes him sing, dance and leap for joy"
(Danielle, 1994: 33).

As we approach this task of defining the gospel biblically, we will be taking a closer look at Paul's letter to the Romans. Paul gives us a step-by-step guide to what he understood to be the good news in Romans

1. Man is Accountable to God

SACRIFICE
The justice of God demands a sacrifice for man's sin.
Since God is holy, righteous, and just, he could not allow sin to go unpunished. Since he is loving and compassionate, he did not want all of mankind to be eternally separated from him.
The divine solution to this problem was for Jesus, God's only Son, to become the sacrifice for sin.

Romans 3:25
God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood—to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished—

All Hostile to God

And you, who once were alienated and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds, he has now reconciled in his body of flesh by his death.
(Colossians 1:21–22)

The best news in all the world is that our alienation from God is ended and we are reconciled to the Judge of the universe. God is no longer against us, but for us. Having omnipotent love on our side mightily steels the soul. Life becomes utterly free and daring when the strongest being in the universe is for you.

16 So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self Corporate worship is design to remind us that weakness does not hinder God’s plan ; it is the plan so that God’s all surpassing power will shine through.

7 But we have this treasure in

jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us.
8 We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair;
9 persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed;
10 always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies.
11 For we who live are always being given over to death for Jesus' sake, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh.
12 So death is at work in us, but life in you.
2 Corinthians 4:7-12

16 So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day.
17 For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison,
18 as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.
2 Corinthians 4:16-18

We gather for worship so that these counterintuitive gospel realities will increasingly become the way we view ourselves in the hardships we face. We need to be reminded again and again that spiritual maturity is not about the assurance of personal strength; it is about being joyfully willing to admit weakness because of the constant renewing work of God’s grace in our lives . We should not fear the weakness that drives us into our Lords hands . What we should fear are the delusions of strength that temps us to live independently.
May we gather , gather again in the humble company of the weak , welcomed into the presence of the one who is strength, and celebrate the renewal that only He can give. Sunday Matters by Paul Tripp
Join us today as we celebrate God renewing grace is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day.

Verse Of The Day: John 14:26 ESV

“What’s my birth mother’s name?” My seven-year-old daughter’s sincere question pierced my heart. Ours had been a private adoption where we were provided only the most basic of information about her parents: height, weight, age, colour of hair and eyes. How was I to respond? The question felt impossible! I drew in a breath and prayed, “God, what do I say?” A sentence tumbled out of my mouth, “What would you like her name to be?” She beamed at me and proclaimed, “Madeline!” “Then, Madeline it is!” I declared. I believe God had provided an answer when I didn’t have one.
In the years after His death, Jesus’ followers would encounter great challenges where they needed God’s answers in seemingly impossible situations. In John 14, Jesus promised He would not leave them alone but would come to them with help (v. 18). And God would provide an ongoing flow of help: “The Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you” (v. 26).
Sometimes the questions we face seem impossible to answer. We need God’s help and answers with our children, our work, our neighbours and our world. When we don’t have the answers, He can provide them.

The Journey Series: Discipling like Christ

Mathew 7:24-27

The Wise and Foolish Builders

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”

The importance of small groups must be realized by every Christian and every church. Why? Because a Christ-centered fellowship is a basic necessity for spiritual growth.

THE PROCESS OF SANCTIFICATION

To be conformed to the likeness of Jesus Christ is a lifelong process. And because sanctification is a process, there will always be conflict between our sinful nature and the Holy Spirit.

There is a total difference between surviving sin and relgning sin, the regenerate in conflict with sin and the unregenerate complacent to sin. It is one thing for sin to live in us: it is another for us to live in sin (Murray, 1955: 145).

Verse to Ponder:

John 6:35
“Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”

Reflection:
Have you ever stood in front of a fridge full of food, yet felt like nothing could satisfy your hunger? Life without Jesus can feel like that—surrounded by options, yet nothing truly fills us. In John 6:35, Jesus offers something more than temporary satisfaction. He calls Himself the bread of life, the only source of nourishment that satisfies the deepest longings of our hearts.
Jesus isn’t offering a quick fix or a temporary meal. He’s inviting us into a relationship where our souls find lasting fulfillment. In Him, we find peace that doesn’t waver with circumstances, joy that endures, and a love that never runs dry.
Coming to Jesus isn’t just a one-time moment; it’s an ongoing journey. Each day, He invites us to bring our doubts, our struggles, our joys, and find that He is more than enough. Today, whatever is leaving you feeling empty, remember: Jesus is the bread of life. He’s offering not just sustenance, but a feast of grace that will never run out.

“Providence is enough”
By Pastor Mel Caparros

As we finished the last chapter of the book, may we remember the story of Esther in the bible that the teaching
on God's sovereignty and providence is such an inspiring and encouraging
lesson, most especially in the midst of a personal, familial or national crisis. We thought were stable, our world gets shaken and broken into many bits and pieces.
When you are beset with such feelings of hopelessness and insecurity, may | suggest that you stop looking horizontally, but instead look vertically. You will find a God who is seated on His throne, perfectly calm, orchestrating circumstances,
people and events to work for the good of His beloved people. When you fix your eyes on Jesus and see Him for who He really is and what He is capable of doing, which is everything, your heart will be greatly comforted. You can rest assured that our loving God will take care of all the details of your life, both big and small.

To God be the glory!
