Durham & Newcastle DA Northern District Sharing information about bellringing in the Northern District of the D & N

The Northern District of the D & N covers Northumberland, Newcastle & North
Tyneside. It has 23 ringable towers, from Berwick Town Hall, secular 8 bell tower
in the north, to Allendale, 8 bell tower in the south west.
12 bell tower: 1; 10 bell towers: 3; 8 bell towers: 13; 6 bell towers: 6.

A fantastic turn out yesterday at Berwick, with a great selection of offerings for lunch. Thank you to Berwick ringers and friends for providing lovely hospitality and drinks. Also, some great feedback about the timings of the day. A big thank you also to Angela Cairns for arranging all of the northern district events. Angela took on the role just as we brought in LoveAdmin, to help us pay subs in a safe and secure way. The work she has been doing behind the scenes is very much appreciated by Clive and I.

Congratulations to all 7 bands who took part in the Northern District 6 bell striking contest heat at St James, Newton Hall today! Special thanks to Chris Enzor who had a long afternoon sitting in his car judging the contest until well after dark!

1st Hexham 9
2nd Ponteland 11
3rd Wylam 21.5
4th Morpeth 24
5th Fenham 26
6th Rothbury 27
7th Whitley Bay 29.5
Also thanks to Angela & Jo for rescuing the contest after a last-minute change of venue was needed, to Jim for making Newton Hall available, to Jo for the catering, and to Andrew for filming and posting the results on Facebook so promptly.
Hexham, Ponteland and Wylam will go through to the final.
