The New Testament doesn’t treat encouragement as optional.

It’s something God’s people are called to practice.

“Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:11

Encouragement in the Bible is more than kind words.

It strengthens someone else’s faith when they feel weak.
It reminds them of what is true when they’ve forgotten.
It helps them keep going when things feel heavy.

It’s not about being naturally “good with words”.

It’s about choosing to say something that genuinely builds someone else up.

A simple challenge for this week:

Speak one specific word of encouragement to someone this week. Something intentional and personal.

Our church has a strong history with Sports Chaplaincy( through the work of Iain MacAskill ) supporting Christians in professional sport but also bringing Jesus' love, human dignity and compassion into what can often be a hostile environment.

But as we know the Gospel thrives in the hardest of places.

Pray for these professional footballers who are not afraid to show their faith to the world.

Three in four football clubs have Christian players in their first-team squads, is just one of the headlines from the latest research by Christians in Sport

Yesterday Donny started his sermon series on Colossians

Focusing on Ch1 we looked at Paul's greeting, gratitude, and prayer for growth.
We were reminded that the Christian life is rooted in faith, hope, and love and that as believers we should be people who live faithfully, love generously, and remain hopeful as we reflect on all that God has done for us.

Who could you encourage this week by letting them know you're praying for them?

We're delighted to have Donny and Courtney as part of our church family.
To welcome them and a chance to get to know one another we hosted a SUPERB church lunch.

As always the puddings were outstanding.

Please pray for Donny, Courtney and their two children as they take time to adjust to new settings, culture a new church family and ministry!

God has shown his love for us in Jesus, giving, forgiving, and welcoming us in.

“The fruit of the Spirit is love…” — Galatians 5:22

A simple reminder: we love because we are first loved.

The New Testament is full of "one another" commands.
They're not just nice ideas; they're descriptions of what Christian community should look like.

Over the next few weeks we'll look at some of them.

On the night before his crucifixion, Jesus gave his disciples a simple but challenging command:

"Love one another."

Jesus doesn't simply tell us to love others.

He points to himself as the example.

Patient love. Sacrificial love. Grace-filled love.

The kind of love that listens, forgives, serves, and seeks the good of others.

A simple challenge for this week:

Ask God to put one person on your heart.

Then do one thing to show them they're loved.

Yesterday the women of the congregation went out for lunch at Tava Turkish restaurant. The food was good, the pudding was better but the company was the best.

Sad for those who missed out, but I can confirm it will happen again!

We're super excited for the Hardwoods arriving this week.
A top team has been cleaning, tidying, power washing and gardening at the manse, getting it back to tip top shape ready for their arrival.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve been thinking about the Holy Spirit, who he is,what he does, and why Pentecost matters.

But there’s a deeper question:

Are we open to God at work in our lives?

Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.” Galatians 5:25

The Bible speaks about something active not just believing, but walking with God.

Sometimes we can go through life on autopilot.
Busy. Distracted. Closed off.

But what if God is nearer than we realise?

What if he is already at work, prompting, guiding, inviting?

As we approach Pentecost,
perhaps the invitation is simple:

To slow down.
To pay attention.
To be open.

What is your response?
