3rd Stevenston Girls' Brigade

3rd Stevenston Girls' Brigade Girls' Brigade is a worldwide Christian organisation for girls and young women. The movement is international and interdenominational.

The Girls' Brigade was formed in 1965 from the amalgamation of 3 organisations.

1) The Girls' Brigade Ireland
2) The Girls' Guildry
3) The Girls' life Brigade

The Girls' Brigade took elements from each of its founding organisations to form a modern Christian organisation for girls and young women that is represented today in countries all over the world. The UNION of the three organisations w

as announced world-wide in the following press statement on Thursday, June 25th 1964 :

"The Girls' Life Brigade, The Girls' Guildry and The Girls' Brigade of Ireland, all sister organisations of The Boys' Brigade, announced that agreement in principle has been reached on the formation of a new united organisation and that details will be worked out as soon as possible. This agreement is the result of negotiations which have been carried on for some time in a spirit of cordiality and it is believed that the united body, which will be known as THE GIRLS' BRIGADE will be of great benefit to all concerned." The UNION was formally confirmed on June 10th, 1968 and the united body took on the name of THE GIRLS' BRIGADE. Its world-wide membership embraces many races, languages and dialects. Today, THE GIRLS' BRIGADE can be found in more than fifty countries and nations throughout the world. Girls' Brigade Scotland has over 250 companies in 22 areas known as Divisions. All of our Companies are attached to a Church or Mission who have invited adult leaders to form a company 3rd Stevenston is attached to Stevenston High Kirk . The Minister of the Church and the governing body of the Church will work closely with the leaders to ensure that the company operates effectively as part of the Church family and the wider community. Our motto is 'Seek, Serve and Follow Christ' but membership is open to girls and young women of all denominations and none. Often we find that Girls' Brigade is the only contact with the Church that a young woman has and through Christian leadership and a well balanced programme we aim to offer girls the chance to learn more about Jesus and his teachings and, in doing so, learn about service to others within a relevant moral framework suitable for the 21st century.

Venue: Stevenston Parish Churh Halls (formally Livinstone parish church)

Girls brigade is open to all girls from P1 to S6 for more information please do not hesitate to contact the page.

Juniors P4-P7 6pm till 8pm
Brigaders S1+ 6pm till 8pm
