Mosaic

Mosaic Mosaic brings three strands of Jewish life - Liberal, Masorti, Reform - into a single community Mosaic is about diversity and choice.

Mosaic is an exciting, unique – and uniquely Jewish – organisation, made up of three quite different strands of Anglo-Jewry – Hatch End Masorti Synagogue, Harrow & Wembley Progressive Synagogue (Liberal) and Mosaic Reform (formerly middlesex New Synagogue). It’s about welcoming and supporting the different life choices we all make as Jews and accepting that we all bring something different and uni

que to our shared traditions and identity. We’re here to nurture those traditions but also to create something entirely new. We’re building a new home for progressive Anglo-Jewry that welcomes everyone, from the religious to the confused to those who just like the food.

Join us for a film screening of Levi, a new short film by producer Eli Hassell set in the Orthodox Jewish Community. It aims to highlight the mental-health issues felt by many young people there as they struggle to deal with the pressure to conform and succeed. The film tells the story of a Jewish youngster who arrives home from studying at a Yeshiva. Desperately unhappy, Levi is unable to communicate how he feels and begins to despair.

There will be a panel discussion with Q&A with the film producer, specialists from Jami and other mental health professionals.

MJC is proud to be one of the pilot communities participating in a su***de prevention and awareness training for the Jewish Community. This initiative is being run by Jami which is part of Jewish Care.

Please RSVP on our website

Prayer is like a mosaic, made of different tiles, forming a broader picture, each with different meanings, sometimes often obscure to grasp.

From the home ritual welcoming Shabbat to Havdalah, when we say farewell to Shabbat, each Friday/Saturday we embark on a journey that is made of different steps and milestones, each with halakhic and spiritual reasons beneath their surface.

Together we will explore how the Rabbis shaped our Shabbat prayers, which legal concerns influenced their choices, and how our ancient prayers can still speak to us nowadays. The course is open to everyone and texts will be provided both in Hebrew and translation.

You can join each session with the Zoom link on our website or in your emails

Tuesdays at 7:00pm: April 28th, May 5th, May 12th, May 19th, May 26th, June 2nd, June 9th and June 16th

Each session is “stand-alone”.

🌳 Tu BiShvat, the ancient agricultural tax year, was transformed by medieval Kabbalists into a celebration of Life and Creation in its many forms, which they marked with a Seder – structured around the drinking of four ritual cups of wine, as at the observance of Pesach.

We mark this New year for Trees with a Tu BiShvat Seder of our own at the shul – including some study, some discussion and lots of fruit. We look forward to celebrating with you.

Please RSVP on our website.
