We loved having Mark Watson from Cambridge Youth for Christ join us at our church yesterday.

Jesus answered, “The most important one says: ‘People of Israel, you have only one Lord and God. You must love him with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength.’

The second most important commandment says: ‘Love others as much as you love yourself.’ No other commandment is more important than these.”

Mark 12:28-31

Such an inspirational man.

Open Doors UK & Ireland is deeply saddened to announce the death of Eddie Lyle, who served the organisation as Chief Executive and President, and later as consultant for Open Doors International. Eddie died on 19 September 2026 in Oxford, UK, following complications from heart surgery. He was 73.

Eddie joined Open Doors UK & Ireland in 2005 and invested over two decades to the charity. A Bible teacher and storyteller by instinct, he travelled for more than 25 years in the countries where following Jesus Christ has carried the highest cost. Most recently, Eddie co-authored a book of his experiences called Witness: Sharing the Faith of the Persecuted Church.

You can read an obituary of Eddie on the Open Doors website: https://bit.ly/4y97On2 Please pray for his wife, Christine, their son, Adam, and all who were touched by his life and ministry.

Thank you Peter from Students at StAG preaching this message on Sunday.

Psalms 1:2-3 CEV
[2] Instead, they find happiness in the Teaching of the Lord, and they think about it day and night. [3] They are like trees growing beside a stream, trees that produce fruit in season and always have leaves. Those people succeed in everything they do.

Sometimes we don't like where God is leading us and sometimes we don't want to listen. The easy option isn't always the lesson God is showing us.

Genesis 22:9-13 CEV

When they reached the place that God had told him about, Abraham built an altar and placed the wood on it. Next, he tied up his son and put him on the wood. He then took the knife and got ready to kill his son.

But the Lord's angel shouted from heaven, “Abraham! Abraham!” “Here I am!” he answered. “Don't hurt the boy or harm him in any way!” the angel said. “Now I know that you truly obey God, because you were willing to offer him your only son.”

Abraham looked up and saw a ram caught by its horns in the bushes. So he took the ram and sacrificed it instead of his son.

We were blessed this morning by Rev David Miller's message on sacrifice and listening to God.
