All Saints is the parish church of St Ives in Cambridgeshire, serving the local community since the year 970. We are a Church of England Church in the Diocese of Ely and our Vicar is chaplain to the Mayor of St Ives. Visit our website for service times. The church can be opened on request at any time by a key-holder. Details of key holders are in the North Porch.

Last Sunday's Gospel reading told of a different treatment of Peter from the previous week. Having been told he was 'the rock, on which the church would be built', when telling Jesus that he should not die at the hands of the elders, Peter was then told that he was a stumbling block. Fr Geoff Dodgson enlarged upon this theme in his sermon.
This morning at our 10.15 sung Eucharist we celebrate the Festival of Creation in Christ, and Fr Barry, our St Ives EcoAction Group representative, will be the preacher.
All are very welcome at our services, although with the cooler weather the doors may not be open throughout.

The church will be open on Saturday 12 September as part of the town's Heritage Open Day and will feature a free concert at 1.00 p.m. from St Austin's Choir. Everyone welcome!

As the season of Trinity continues the Revd Kate Baker celebrated the Twelfth Sunday after Trinity with us last week and Simon was our preacher, the only man in an otherwise all female altar party! Our organist, Martin Everett had returned from his travels, but the congregation was still missing various members on their holidays. With the school terms starting this week we expect to see more returning.
We are very pleased to welcome the Revd Geoff Dodgson (Associate Priest in the Papworth Team Ministry) to officiate at our usual sung Eucharist at 10.15 this morning.

The feast of St Lawrence is on 10th August and Fr Andrew reminded us at the start of last Sunday's service that when Rome demanded the surrender of all the church's treasures, he presented the indigent, crippled, blind and suffering and proclaimed the church thus far richer than the emperor, leading to his martyrdom.
The Gospel reading contained the reference to the 'dogs eating the crumbs from the table', and Elaine explored this theme in her sermon and the keeping of a promise: can we make a promise if we cannot foresee the future and know whether we can keep it?
Tomorrow morning the Revd Kate will be the celebrant at our 10.15 sung Eucharist and Canon Simon Kershaw will be the preacher.
All are very welcome at our services, although with the cooler weather we may not have the west door open!

As we continue with the Sundays after Trinity the fields are becoming parched and fires are breaking out. It will be a sad harvest festival this year, and we pray for the farmers whose lives have been devastated.
Last Sunday the Revd Kate celebrated the tenth Sunday after Trinity and Richard Hough preached on the Gospel, which had featured the story of the disciple Peter walking on water and being tested by Jesus, who calls us all to be his followers.
Tomorrow morning Fr Andrew will be the celebrant, whilst Elaine Midgley will be the preacher. All are very welcome at our services.

The interesting thing about being in an interregnum is that we have a variety of priests taking the service on Sundays and with our Lay Readers as well there is a great variety of preachers. Last week Fr Barry celebrated and preached. The Gospel reading had been about Jesus feeding the five thousand and Fr Barry urged us to consider four key points: thanksgiving, hope, commitment and courage, whilst pondering what we consider our identity to be. Tomorrow morning at our 10.15 sung Eucharist the Revd Kate will be the celebrant and one of our Lay Readers, Richard Hough, will be the preacher. All are very welcome at our services.

Although the Revd Kate Baker celebrated the mass last Sunday, the preacher was Fr Andrew Body. The Gospel reading had been the parables of the mustard seed, yeast, treasure in a field, a fine pearl and the haul of fish. We were invited to consider all these from the perspective of Jesus' followers and our own experience. After the service there were refreshments, including prosecco and cake to celebrate the 65th wedding anniversary of two members of the choir, Janet and Malcolm Crockcroft. Tomorrow morning at our 10.15 sung Eucharist the celebrant and preacher will be Fr Barry Pate. All are very welcome at our services.
