Yesterday, Christians Together in Sowerby Bridge came together for our Good Friday Walk of Witness — a meaningful time to reflect, remember, and share the message of Easter with our community.

We were blessed with fine weather throughout, making the journey all the more special as we walked together in unity through the town.

Along the way, it was a joy to give out knitted chicks and Easter eggs — small gifts, but shared with big smiles and warm conversations. It was wonderful to see how these simple acts of kindness were received, bringing a little brightness to people’s day.

Thank you to everyone who took part, supported, and helped make it such a special occasion.

A true reminder of what Good Friday is all about — faith, community, and sharing hope with others. ✝️

Good Friday – Walk of Witness
Step out in faith this Good Friday and join us for our Walk of Witness.
We will be gathering with other local churches as part of Christians Together in Sowerby Bridge, walking side by side as one community.
Meeting at St Patrick’s Catholic Church from 10.00am (departing at 10.30am), we will walk together through Sowerby Bridge, ending at St Paul’s Methodist Church for a short time of reflection.
It’s a simple but powerful way to share in the story of Good Friday — together.

Christians Together in Sowerby Bridge offer our heartfelt prayers and congratulations on the election of His Holiness Pope Leo XIV. We pray that God grants him wisdom, strength, and grace as he begins his ministry. Our thoughts and prayers are also with our Catholic friends here in Sowerby Bridge and around the world in this time of joyful transition. May the Holy Spirit guide Pope Leo XIV in all he does.

We are deeply saddened by the news of the passing of Pope Francis. The churches of Sowerby Bridge join together in prayer for the repose of his soul and for the entire Catholic Church in this time of mourning. May he rest in the peace of Christ.

Thanks to the congregation of St. Patrick’s, SaintPeters Church Sowerby, St. Pauls Methodist Church - Sowerby Bridge and Christ Church, Sowerby Bridge we were able to hand out over 200 knitted Easter chicks each with an Easter egg.

What a powerful morning we shared on Good Friday as churches across Sowerby Bridge came together for the annual Walk of Witness.

Christ Church, St Patrick’s, St Paul’s, and the churches of the Ryburn Benefice united in prayer and reflection as we walked through the town, remembering the journey Jesus took to the cross.

Along the way, we shared small gifts of love and kindness — knitted Easter chicks (each with a little chocolate egg inside!) were handed out to those we met, sparking smiles and meaningful moments.

A huge thank you to everyone who walked, knitted, supported, or prayed. Here are a few photos capturing the morning — a true witness of community, compassion, and hope.

This Good Friday (29th March), we’ll be gathering with churches across Sowerby Bridge for our annual Walk of Witness — a powerful act of unity and reflection as we journey through the town together.

Starting Point: St Patrick’s Church
Time: 10:30am

We’ll walk together, stopping for readings and prayers as we remember the path Jesus walked to the cross.

All are welcome — whether you’ve joined us before or this is your first time. Let’s make space in our Good Friday for something meaningful and shared.
