As we start a new term, at the beginning of a new school year we had our first Shipmates Family Service since July. We talked about new beginnings and what it means to be made new in Christ.
We learnt two NEW songs welcomed a NEW member of the church family, prayed for our NEW classes, teachers and friends then after the service some of the children planted spring bulbs.

At Shipmates today we practiced some more Chatting and Catching we told God what makes us Scared and asked Him what we can do when we feel scared.

Then we looked at the questions
Why Are You Afraid? and
Do You Believe I Can Do This?
Andrea read the story The Storm that Stopped to set the context.
And we had a couple of noisy games to. One child asked Do you believe I can do this (throwing a ball into a pot) the rest of the team could either answer 'Yes' or 'No but God can'
If they got it right they moved forward.
You can listen again to the story here

Great to see everyone at our Shipmates Family Service today.
We sang about how BIG God is, how BIG His love for us is and made a BIG noise to show him how much we love Him ❀️
We also retold the creation story, looked at our role in caring for creation and planted some seeds to care for.
We are hoping they will grow into something to share at our Harvest Lunch on September 20th.🌱πŸ₯ͺ

If your child came home with one of these today each button reprents someone they'd like to pray for as part of
Thy Kingdom Come.
It's not too late to join in this international prayer movement which runs this year between May 9th and 19th.

Yesterday Shipmates Early Years and Shipmates Primary all enjoyed thinking about giving God thanks for the blessings He gives us.
They especially enjoyed the demo on 'God wants to give us good gifts' which involved biscuits!

Candlemas is on Feb 2nd and we will be celebrating it on Sunday 4th February with a Christingle Service. Why not invite your friends to come and join us

We celebrated Epiphany this morning with a King Cake - traditionally a clay or porcelain Baby Jesus is hidden inside, although Andrea cheated and used a jelly baby!
Dinah found him and was crowned King for the day.
We also had a gold frankincense and myrrh relay race with real frankincense and myrrh and a gold coin to take home.

As well as being crowned Dinah won the right to host Candlemas which we will celebrate next month with a Christingle Service. Hope to see you all there.

β€œYou are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

At our last Shipmates session before half term we thought about Kindness. We patted balloons to keep them in the air thinking of a kind act with each pat. We could do it for a few minutes but God's kindness is unending.
Over half term we challenged the children not only to try consciously to be kind but also to recognise kind acts in others.

What a fabulous Harvest Celebration this morning. Many thanks to all those who read, prayed, sang, signed, joined in and helped sort the contributions afterwards. Not forgetting everyone who contributed to the wonderful Harvest Display.
