Greetings from church 😇

This Sunday we celebrate Corpus Christi. Jesus Christ is truly present, body, blood, soul, and divinity, under the appearances of bread and wine.

In June, the month of the Sacred Heart ❤️, we continue to celebrates his presence, not by looking at an organ, his heart alone, but by recalling who he is and what he stands for: The person of Jesus of Nazareth, God and man. May we reflect in our humanity his presence, true and real, the presence of his love that can be seen in what we say and do 🙏

The newsletter, Together has a piece on the churches in Birkdale formally (or canonically) becoming one parish. Your thoughts and ideas are invited. They will be listened to👂and considered 🤔 What we act on will be a shared decision. There will be no winners or losers. There are, however, limitations and a reality that we will have to face up to! I am grateful to Archbishop John Sherrington for allowing the process of us becoming one parish to begin. It will involve every aspect of parish life being looked at and evaluated. I am grateful for the support and understanding shown. I know that you will work with me towards a happy outcome. There will be updates on the process and an open dialogue. Just remember we are all friends. In the challenges ahead, remember: we belong to the same family of faith and are committed to handing on what we have received in a way that is sustainable and fair.
The Church is made of living stones. Together we keep the Church alive.

On Wednesday, the first holy Communion children who attend Our Lady of Lourdes School had a Mass with the other juniors marking this milestone. The theme of the Mass was: We bring the simple gifts we have - through God's power they become great!

On Sunday 21 June, there will be a family Mass at St Teresa's at 11am.

Special thanks to the catechists, the children's liturgy leaders, and the altar servers.

With my best wishes and prayer for you and your loved ones,

Fr Atli 💕

Greetings from church 🙏

Today, Friday 1st of May we celebrate St Joseph the worker.

Joseph's hands carried wood, but also responsibility. He did not work for bread alone, but for meaning. He shows us that work is not only about production, for it is also about relation; to God, to people, to oneself. Every hammer, every nail, every breath in the workshop was part of something greater. Likewise, our work can become part of God's work: a service for the common good, a way to grow as a human beings, a prayer in motion. In Joseph's silence, we learn that work can be sacred when done with love and faithfulness. He reminds us that dignity does not lie in status or success, but in faithfulness and responsibility. That everyone's work , whatever it may be, has meaning for us all. Let us on this day pray for all workers: for those who toil, and for those seeking work, for justice in the work place and respect for human dignity. Let us learn from Saint Joseph that through work we not only shape the world – but we too are being formed in how we see things and in what we value.

With every good wish for the week ahead (will it ☔ rain on Monday?? It is a bank holiday 🤪)

Fr Atli

❤ Palm Sunday Prayer ❤

Heavenly Father,
As we remember the day Jesus entered Jerusalem,
welcomed with praise and waving palms,
we open our hearts to receive Him again.

Lord Jesus,
You came in humility, riding on a donkey,
not as a king of power, but a king of peace.
Teach us to follow Your example—
to choose love over pride,
service over status,
and faith over fear.

As the crowds shouted “Hosanna,”
may our lives also praise You,
not just in words, but in how we live each day.

Help us to walk with You this Holy Week,
to understand Your sacrifice,
and to prepare our hearts for the joy of Easter.

Strengthen our faith,
guide our steps,
and fill us with Your peace.

Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord.

Amen.
