Advent Actions Advent Action Calendar is an advent calendar with a difference!

As you may be aware the process for candidating for ordained ministry in the Methodist Church now includes a pre-candidating retreat to help folk in discerning their call.

Those considering candidating from September 2025 to start training September 2026 or beyond will be at a Discerning Ordination Vocation (DOV1) Retreat 16-18 May.

Please pray for all of the retreatants as they take this time to discern their call and for those who are leading the retreat, thank you.

God, who leads us on in the journey of faith, we pray for our schools: for those for whom they are places of learning and growth; for those for whom they are places of vocation and service. May we have the faithfulness to pray for them, the wisdom to know how to serve them, and the humility to contribute to their common life with grace. May we all know the blessing of growth, and the fulfilment of a life of curiosity, wonder and joy. Amen.

The Church of England’s General Synod has called on the bishops to take the next step to issue prayers which would enable same-sex couples to come to church after a civil marriage or civil partnership to give thanks, dedicate their relationship to God and receive God’s blessing.
