🌞🌘🌏 A moment to marvel at the wonder of God’s creation 🌍🌒🌞

Today we have been privileged to witness the wonder of a solar eclipse - a beautiful reminder of the majesty, order and mystery of God our Creator.

While we here in the UK were able to see the partial eclipse, two of our parishioners travelled all the way to Palencia in Spain and were blessed to experience the awe-inspiring totality.

As we look to the heavens and marvel at the beauty of creation, we are reminded of the words of the hymn ‘Crown Him with many crowns’:

“Crown Him the Lord of years,
The Potentate of time.
Creator of the rolling spheres,
Ineffably sublime.”

May moments such as these lift our eyes and hearts towards the One who created the heavens and the earth. 🌍☀️🙏

⛪️ Parish Notice – Fr Bill’s Summer Break

Please note that Fr Bill will be taking his summer break from Wednesday 12th August.

Fr Bill will celebrate Mass at 9.00am on Wednesday 12th August before beginning his break. He will return to the parish on Sunday 30th August.

During Fr Bill’s period of leave, weekday Masses will be cancelled, but we will continue to celebrate our Sunday morning Masses at 10.00am as usual.

We look forward to welcoming Fr Peter Walker SSC and Fr John Ryder SSC, who will be celebrating our Sunday Masses during this time. We are very grateful to them for their support.

If you require a priest in an emergency during Fr Bill’s absence, please contact one of the Church Wardens, or send a direct message to the parish page, and we will do our best to assist.

We wish Fr Bill a restful and enjoyable summer break! ☀️🙏

Our pilgrims are safely home after a joy filled week of faith, friendship and community. New friendships were made, existing friendships were strengthened and everyone is committed to finding and sharing joy wherever they can in their everyday lives.
Our leaders are exceptionally proud of our young people, they looked after each other, took part in so many activities and had honest, open conversations about their faith.

It’s been another busy day in Walsingham, Bible Study this morning focused on the Transfiguration with some great discussions and a fabulous message to leave with - ‘We are being transformed by God’s glory, God loves you exactly as you are but too much to leave you that way’.
We were challenged during Mass to come out of our comfort zones and learn new Mass settings, some with more complex rhythms to get our heads round.
This afternoon was completely free time, so we headed to Wells for fish and chips and some time on the beach. The journeys to and from were a bit of a highlight for our young pilgrims as well.
The evening has finished with a disco and games in the hub.

Today started with breakfast and Q&A with Bishop Luke and fellow pilgrims from the Rochester Diocese.
We then went to Bible Study where we discussed Mary Magdalene and how her sorrow turned to joy on seeing the risen Lord.
After a lively Mass, we were treated to pizza for lunch and then it was time for fun and games with inflatables, climbing wall, giant jenga, bubble football and art and crafts.
We finished the day with the Healing Ministries, a moving and emotional way to finish the day

After a very misty start, we’ve had a busy day with Bible Study focussing on the Wedding at Cana, followed by Mass in the Big Top. During the afternoon, there was an opportunity to join the football tournament and explore the Shrine.
This evening, we met at the Abbey to hear the Walsingham story, before processing to the Shrine for Benediction.

Our joyful pilgrims are ready for the Opening Liturgy and First Visit.

At the end of Mass today, our lovely group of pilgrims received their blessing before the start of the Walsingham Youth Pilgrimage tomorrow.
We pray that they will grow in faith, feel the power of the Lord in that holy place and enjoy spending time with each other and other young Christians.

We enjoyed a wonderful celebration at our Patronal Festival today! 🎉🙏🏻❤️⛪️

Thank you to everyone who came along and joined us. It was lovely to celebrate together as a parish family and to honour our patron, St James the Great.

“Lord, who shall sit beside thee,
enthroned on either hand,
when clouds no longer hide thee,
’mid all thy faithful band?”
