The Church of St Mary The Virgin is a 13th Century Early English style building. It consists of a long rectangle of aisleless nave and chancel, with 19th century north vestry/heating chamber, and south porch. It has a red tile roof and, at the west end, a timbered bell turret with a pyramid tile roof and horizontal weather-boarding. There are original lancets in the chancel, restored in the nave and a small 15th Century cusped window next to the chancel south door and 3 lancets within arched opening at east end. Interior of interest, with good modern glass. Unaltered, through isolation (the settlement having developed at Netley).

Friends of St Mary’s is a community group that raises funds and awareness for the conservation of this historic church building. The friends organise an open day every June, which is a great day out in the sun and offers an opportunity to engage with local artists, and organisations, as well as taking in the history and natural beauty of the site.

St Mary’s Church, Hound is the original parish church, dating back to the 13th century. The church is still used for services, including a monthly service of holy communion, a series of reflective evening services in the summer months, and a hugely successful annual Christmas Carol concert. The church also hosts occasional concerts.

There is a regular service of said communion at 8.00am on the 2nd Sunday of the month.
