Everyday Awakening: Meditation for Real Life

Join Maitranayaka on Tuesday evenings for an exciting new drop-in meditation class.

With an emphasis on community, friendship and growth, these classes offer a welcoming space to practise together, support one another, and build real connections.

The Buddha described spiritual friendship as the whole of the spiritual life – not just one aspect of it, but the condition in which everything else unfolds.

We don’t develop in isolation; we grow through relationship, through encouragement, reflection and shared practice.

These evenings are an opportunity to explore that living web of interdependence – to sit, reflect, and walk the path in the company of others who are also trying to live with more awareness, kindness and depth.

Classes run every Tuesday throughout July and August. Doors open 6.45pm, class 7pm – 9pm.

Entry is by donation, and there’s no need to book. Just come along and sit, breathe, connect and awaken.

Find your people, be yourself, and come as you are. Everyone is welcome.

Drop-in class for beginners, or for anyone who would like a refresher.

On alternate weeks we teach the Mindfulness of Breathing and the Cultivation of Loving Kindness (Metta Bhavana), two meditation practices that form the basis for calm, clarity and wisdom.

Sessions start at 10am prompt. You are welcome to stay on for tea and a chat afterwards. You might also like to join our Going Deeper session at 11.30am, where you can find out more about the Buddha and his teachings.

All our classes are offered on a donation basis, drawing upon the Buddhist practice of dana – generosity. Please give what you can to support us to share the Buddha’s teachings more widely.

Ta-daa! This week our dedicated team of volunteer decorators applied the finishing touches to the paintwork in our reception area. Look what a fabulous job they’ve done!

Hanging in pride of place is this lovely image of Avalokiteshvara. He’s the quintessence of compassion, and with his thousand hands he’s also a symbol of what we can achieve when we all come together in the service of the Dharma.

We’re hugely grateful to our wonderful volunteers for making this beautiful space.
