Isaac Watts Memorial Church

Isaac Watts Memorial Church A friendly, family orientated church in Upper Shirley, Southampton
Services start at 11.00 every Sunday

Whilst retaining our own identity, we enjoy learning and working together to do God's will here in Southampton. In 2006 we became part of a larger group of churches (known as the South West Hants Group), in order to share our resources more effectively. This group includes Avenue St Andrew's, Chandler's Ford and Freemantle United Reformed Churches, and Valley Park and Lord's Hill Local Ecumenical

Partnership churches. Our church is also a member of Churches Together in Shirley and District; an interdenominational group working to share the Good News in word and deed in the Shirley area. The Comminicare project is one success story from this work.

🙏 Join us in for the first Sunday of Advent.

🕯️This prayer encourages us to be hopeful in God’s work of healing our communities and the world.

Advent is a time for reflection as we prepare our hearts for Christmas. It’s a chance to hold in our hearts those in crisis and offer them hope.

Our beautiful Salisbury Shop was broken into on Wednesday evening. Thieves removed the safe, damaged display equipment and ransacked the office area damaging IT equipment in the process.

Sadly, incidents like this have a huge impact on our dedicated staff. The local team spent more than a day tidying the shop and getting it operational again. Despite losing over a day’s sales, the team were delighted to open again at lunchtime on Friday and continue to operate as normal.

We would like to share our sincerest thanks to the local community who have rallied around our team and provided messages of support and kindness.

We care for the most poorly children and young adults from across our community. Incidents like this are rare and we are extremely grateful to everyone who has expressed their support and care during times like these. đź’–

It’s not long to go until and if you’re planning who is going to be at your dinner table, consider including someone who might be or over the festivities. You could make a huge difference to someone this just by extending an invitation.

We know that whether you celebrate Christmas or not, the festive period can be an extremely difficult time of year when you have been bereaved of your important person.

Here is a gentle reminder from our good friend Justin Bowen.

[Image description: Blue coloured textured slide. Quote reads “There isn't a 'right' way to do Christmas, just as there isn't a 'right' way to grieve. Do what feels right for you and your family - whatever you do will be 'right.’ Justin Bowen.”]
