St Mary's Church Copythorne

We have a couple of changes to our usual pattern of services this month as follows:

Thursday 14 May at 7pm. An evening service of Holy Communion will be held at St Mary's as we keep Ascension Day. This service will include choir and organ.

Sunday 24 May at 10am. There will be no service at St Mary's as we gather together at Copythorne Parish Hall for a United Service for Pentecost.

Everyone is welcome to attend these services.

Thank you to everyone who cleaned, tidied, scrubbed, sorted and decorated the church yesterday, ready for Easter.

The pews are polished, the choir stalls buffed and the brass shining. Here are some photos of the floral displays which are beautiful and all so unique. 🙏

Update regarding the Church Tidy Up session on Saturday 4 April 9am - 11am (earlier finish time than previously advised).

For those attending on Saturday 4th April, where possible please bring any equipment with you. For cleaning perhaps furniture polish and dusters, cobweb brush, vacuum cleaner etc. Whilst there are no plans to do extensive work outside in the churchyard this time, if anyone does bring gardening tools work could be done tidying the ashes garden along with the ones around the church walls.

We look forward to seeing you and any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Spring cleaning!

About this time we normally appeal for help with tidying up the churchyard. However, due to the significant blooms and flowering bulbs this year, we will use our Easter preparation weekend to focus on internal cleaning and tidying instead. This will take place on Saturday 4th April from 9am - 12 noon (the day before Easter Sunday) and in addition to internal cleaning, we aim to tackle cleaning and tidying the upstairs church balcony and upstairs landing area. We also look forward to seeing the amazing floral team who will be in church too creating their Easter flower displays.

The next churchyard tidy up morning is now planned for Saturday 11th July from 9am - 12 noon. Please make a note in your diary to come along if you can.

Holy Week and Easter Services. Everyone is most welcome.

Maundy Thursday - 2nd April - 7pm 'Holy Communion'. A sung service with choir and organ, concluding with the stripping of the altar and a short vigil.

Good Friday - 3rd April - 9.30am 'Walk of Witness' from Cadnam Methodist to St Mary's, concluding with a short service at St. Mary's and hot cross buns.

Easter Day - Sunday 5th April - 9.30am 'Holy Communion'.

A Passiontide reflection service with music sung by the choir. Sunday 22nd March 2026 at 4pm. The service lasts 40 minutes. All welcome.

We're looking for a new member to join our 'Open The Book' group.

The 'Open The Book' team of volunteers visit our 3 benefice church schools each half-term to act out traditional bible stories to the pupils. The group meets on two Thursdays every half-term to rehearse and perform and absolutely no acting experience is needed! For safeguarding reasons a DBS check will be required.
