As part of the Yorkshire GREEN project, we need to carry out essential work on our overhead lines near the junction. To keep our workforce, road users and local communities safe, we need to close parts of Junction 42 of the A1(M) (Selby Fork Interchange) and A63.

Having received various correspondence with regards to planning permission and whether a landowner is allowed to be building/fencing/extending/laying hardcore etc, please know that you can document it (a photo/dates/vehicles) and raise your concern with Planning Enforcement who can record and investigate:

PLANNED ROAD RESTRICTION NOTIFICATION - KL6642627WK24HILLIAMGTES-01

➡️ Location: Betteras Hill Road, Hillam CP, Hillam,

Description of works: Network Rail works - Level crossing testing. Hours of works 22:30-05:30

The Restriction will be in place for a period of 7 hours between 14th September 2026 and 15th September 2026

PLANNED ROAD RESTRICTION NOTIFICATION - QB030201821-BHR-01

➡️ Location: Betteras Hill Road, Hillam CP, Hillam,

Description of works: Yorkshire Water works - Installation of approx 1723m of clean water main by Directional Drilling, Slip Line and Open Cut, including all associated fittings and services

The Restriction has been extended until 24th August 2026 as it has been a slow dig.

PLANNED ROAD RESTRICTION NOTIFICATION - QB030201821-CS1-02 - COPY

➡️ Location: Chapel Street, Hillam CP, Hillam,

Description of works: Yorkshire Water works - Installation by opencut approx 450m of clean water main including associated fittings and services. An extension has been agreed due to slow progress finding a new route for the main.

The Restriction will be in place between 15th June 2026 and 31st August 2026

Just a reminder to get involved and boost our community spirit by doing your bit... mystery judges will be visiting Hillam (probably this month) to see if the village is worthy of the 'In Bloom' award and we need to make up for all the road works!! Extra blooms, zero litter, tidy hedges, all of it adds a little positivity and boosts our pride in our village. Good Luck Hillam 🏆🍀

We have been asked to pass on the sad news that Jean Collinson has passed away.

Those wishing to pay their respects may attend St Wilfrid's Church, Monk Fryston, Wednesday 24th June, 2pm. Following interment at Monk Fryston cemetery, you will be invited to attend The Cross Keys from 3pm.

Jean was the Chair of the Parish Council for a long time. A fabulous Councillor, always fighting for the best for our village and community. Rest in peace, Jean.

We will share a summary of the AGM and Parish Meeting at the weekend, but for now we owe a massive THANK YOU to everyone who came along and everyone who spoke on behalf of a community group! It was great to hear about all the ways volunteers enhance our village - it is thriving because of them! 🏆👏

Anything that strengthens our community and what it offers will always be a WIN in our book!
