🎵 What’s Your Favourite Hymn? 🎵

As we move into Ordinary Time, we’re putting together a list of favourite hymns and we’d love to hear from our wider community.

You don’t have to be a regular churchgoer to join in! Many of us have hymns that remind us of family celebrations, weddings, christenings, school assemblies, Remembrance services, or loved ones we’ve lost.

Is there a hymn that brings back happy memories, gives you comfort, or simply has a tune you love to sing?

Share your favourite in the comments below and tell us why it’s special to you. We may even include some of the most popular choices in our services over the coming weeks.

Whether it’s “Jerusalem”, “Amazing Grace”, “Guide Me, O Thou Great Redeemer”, “Lord of All Hopefulness”, or something completely different, we’d love to hear your choice.

On Thursday 4th June at 7.00pm, Wakefield Cathedral warmly invites you to celebrate the Feast of Corpus Christi with Choral Eucharist and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament.

Corpus Christi is one of the great festivals of the Church's year, dedicated to giving thanks for the gift of Christ's Body and Blood in the Holy Eucharist. Through word, sacrament, and song, we gather to reflect upon and rejoice in Christ's enduring presence with his people.

We are delighted to welcome Mother Emily Lawrence, Vicar of North and South Elmsall, as our preacher for this year's celebration.

The Cathedral Consort will sing music by Imogen Holst and Jack Hodkinson, one of our bass lay clerks, enriching this solemn and joyful liturgy. The service will conclude with the Procession of the Blessed Sacrament and Benediction.

All are warmly welcome to join us for this beautiful act of worship as we give thanks for the sacrament of Christ's love and celebrate the mystery of his presence among us.

On Thursday 4th June, we celebrate the Feast of Corpus Christi or the Institution of Holy Communion in the Church.
Mother Emily will be preaching at Wakefield Cathedral at the Choral Mass at 7pm.
You are warmly invited.

Following the serious accident on Ash Grove Yesterday, our prayers are with the family and friends of the seriously injured now in Intensive care at Leeds Infirmary. We pray for his healing and for comfort for those who are distressed and we also pray for the driver of the Audi and those who witnessed the accident. The Holy Mass will be offered for them on Wednesday morning at 11:30am.
