There is something truly special about Guru Nanak Gurdwara Smethwick.
It isn’t simply the beauty of the Darbar Sahib or the building itself. It is what happens quietly within these walls, every single day.
It is the sound of Gurbani filling the Darbar Sahib.
It is the Sangat sitting together in the presence of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
It is the hands preparing countless parshaade in the Guru’s Langar.
It is the Sevadaars stirring the deghs, washing, cleaning, cooking and serving without seeking recognition.
It is our elders who have spent decades doing Seva, passing that spirit from one generation to the next.
These photographs capture something that cannot easily be put into words — faith, humility, community and selfless Seva.
For 65 years, since 1961, generations of Sangat have walked through the doors of Guru Nanak Gurdwara Smethwick. So much has changed around us, but the principles at its heart remain the same:
Naam Japo. Kirat Karo. Vand Chhako.
Perhaps that is the magic of a Gurdwara Sahib. Thousands of individual acts of Seva, most of them unseen and unrecognised, coming together to create something much greater than any one person.
This is Guru Nanak Gurdwara Smethwick.
This is our Sangat.
This is our Seva.
This is our home. ❤️🙏🏽
