We are always overjoyed to see everybody at our church services. We would like to encourage you to sing a little more if that is okay. During the distribution of Holy Communion the organists and choir, if we have one, often play and sing hymns as we do so . So after you have received, and if the number is on the board, usually the 4th one, please join in.

Reflection from the Rectory – What did you do in August?
There is a tradition that August is a time to do a little bit less in church often as recuperation from a busy time of baptisms, services, weddings etc. And also in preparation for Creationtide, Harvest time and looking forward to a season of remembering. How have you done? I know the ministry have continued to work hard in the provision of all things ministry, from home visits, visits to care homes, pastoral visits to the bereaved, baptism visits, wedding meetings and of course the large number of church services. I always thank them for the work they do and, as I do, try to take some time for our own rest. I have tried my very best to practice what I preach and did lay down a few things, managing to read a novel or two, listen to music and spend more time with people rather than being stuck at the desk. I have also managed to rebuild some Lego models that I had been given that were slightly worse for wear. I know that summer can be exhausting too. For young families finding things to do can be difficult and parents finding some time for rest (and grandparents (do I need to add great grandparents?)). We set up a Lego Club at the Winchelsea Centre for a day a week during the Summer Holidays and that has been well supported. As was the funday and recent community events. All too soon the Summer holidays are nearly over, and children will be returning to school for some it will be the same school, for others it will be their first time either at primary school or secondary school. I am sure along with me you will pray for a calm start to term for the children, and the nervousness of a new school year can mean. Pray too for their families and the school staff. Harvest and Creationtide will soon be celebrated in our churches. It is important as Christians that we give thanks for all that our God has provided for us. You will have seen most of the harvest has been brought in already so please pray for the farmers, workers and producers who work so hard that we might be fed. This year for Creationtide we will be thinking about Water and all that it is needed for to create and sustain life. With every blessing. Reverend Al.
