We had a wonderful Patronal Festival where we gave thanks for the life and example of St Mary, our patron saint and enjoyed fellowship together as a church family.

Thank you to Fr Roger, who led both the 8am and 10am services as Fr Chris has been off with a back problem. It was wonderful to have him with us for the baptisms. Please keep Noah, Cooper, Reuben and their family in your prayers.

We were delighted to welcome Bradley Smith, Chair of the Prayer Book Society, together with some visiting members to our Choral Evensong service. It was a real pleasure to have you with us at St Mary’s, thank you for coming and joining us. And thank you to the choir for attending & singing.

Our thanks to everyone who helped make the day special. There is always so much work that goes on behind the scenes, such as flower arrangements, preparing the church, creating orders of service, etc. We are very grateful to all those who gave their time and energy.

Thank you to everyone who came and to all who helped make our Patronal Festival such a joyful occasion. If you are thinking about coming back to church or coming for the first time why not come along and see what’s happening? We would love to welcome you next Sunday.

We are excited to introduce our new little Children’s Library in church.

It is filled with some lovely Christian books for children to discover from Noah and the Ark, Daniel and the lion and other favourite Bible stories, to books that help children learn about God’s love, faith, prayer and following Jesus.

Children can choose a book they would like to read, take it home for a week or two, enjoy or read it together as a family and then bring it back to choose another. Whatever stories your child loves, there’s something waiting for them.

This weekend why not pop into church, Pick a book, take it home, read & enjoy it and grow in faith together as a family. Please sign the sheet to let us k ow you have a book.

We would love to see our little readers making the most of this new resource.

Come and have a browse next time you’re at church — you might just find a new favourite!

This weekend marks a new Festival of Creation in Christ, a new feast approved by the Church of England’s General Synod & part of the liturgical calendar.

It is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on God’s gift of creation and think about how we can care for it together, both in our worship and in practical ways.

Here in our church community, one small way we care for creation is through our churchyard working parties.

We have a lovely sunny morning today. So if you enjoy the fresh air, getting stuck in and caring for the beautiful church grounds, which are enjoyed by many in our community please pop down and join us. We would love to welcome you whether you can lend a hand for the whole session or just pop along for a while, all are welcome. Here until 12.00 And, of course, there’ll be time afterwards to enjoy a cuppa and a hot dog together.

Come along, meet others, enjoy being outdoors and help us care for God’s creation. Next one will be Saturday 3 October. We would love to see you!

We were delighted to welcome Rev Marcus as part of his fantastic Ride+Stride challenge yesterday.

St Mary’s was the final church Rev Marcus Collie, Vicar of visited before riding his motorbike to to celebrate visiting 100 churches across the Diocese ahead of this year’s Ride+Stride.

What an incredible challenge and achievement - congratulations, Rev Marcus. A wonderful Ride+Stride journey and pilgrimage that was not only about the miles travelled, but also about taking time to pray and reflect in each of the 100 churches. Thank you for visiting Sidlesham and Murphy, the vicarage Great Dane, was delighted to give him a very warm Sidlesham welcome!

If you’re taking part in Ride+Stride on 12 September and plan to visit St Mary’s, we look forward to welcoming you.

And if you are joining our St Mary’s group, do let us know so that we can share the route & details with you, along with information about our BBQ afterwards.
