Join the ‘Walk for Dementia’.

Local fundraiser Sally Jamison has organised a ‘Walk for Dementia’, on Saturday, 19 September around the Quarry Park, Shrewsbury.

Dementia affects thousands of families across our community. Walk for Dementia is a chance to come together, celebrate treasured memories, and show support for those affected by dementia.

For a £6 registration fee, you'll receive an "I am walking for..." sign to personalise and wear proudly throughout, making every step even more meaningful.

This year the Dementia Appeal at Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital Charity is celebrating its 10th Anniversary. Thanks to your continued support over the past decade, we have been able to fund equipment and resources that continues to make a real difference to patients and families affected by dementia.

By taking part, you'll help raise funds to us continue to make the hospital experience better for our patients.

And so a new era begins. After a really wonderful curacy at St Giles, Shrewsbury and St Eata's, Atcham, Rev'd Zoë is delighted to announce the following.

Bishop Sarah writes:

I am delighted to announce that The Revd Zoe Braven-Giles, currently serving Curate of Shrewsbury S.Giles with Sutton, and Atcham, has been appointed as Rector of the Benefices of Edgmond with Kynnersley and Preston Wealdmoors held in plurality with Tibberton with Bolas Magna & Waters Upton within the Diocese of Lichfield and the Shrewsbury Episcopal Area.

Zoe brings with her a deep love for the local church, a warm pastoral heart, and a genuine gift for
building relationships and encouraging others in faith. Throughout the discernment process she
demonstrated a clear sense of God's call to this ministry, together with a thoughtful and collaborative approach to leadership. I have every confidence that she will bring wisdom, compassion and hope as she begins this new chapter alongside the people of the benefice.

Please also remember the congregations and communities of the Shrewsbury S.Giles with Sutton, and Atcham benefice as they prepare to say farewell to Zoe with gratitude for her faithful ministry among them.

Above all, I invite you to hold Zoe, her family and friends, and the people of both benefices in your
prayers during this time of transition. May they know the Lord's peace and guidance, deepen in faith and confidence together, and be continually renewed by the grace and power of the Holy Spirit as they step into all that God has prepared for them.

Rev'd Zoë says:

I am so thankful for everyone at St. Giles and St. Eata's for all their love and support for us all these past 4 years. I am especially grateful to the Reverend Prebendary Andrew Knight for taking me under his wing and patiently teaching me, and answering my endless questions. A better colleague and friend I could not have asked for.

We will miss you all. Please keep us in your prayers as we move on to this new adventure.

A Just Giving page has been organised to help fund flowers and possibly other arrangements for Roz Abbot's funeral on 14th September. Roz was a dedicated, invaluable and long term parishioner and lay reader at St Giles. She will be sadly missed and deserved a fitting send off, in appreciation of the person she was and the enormous contribution that she made in supporting the St Giles Church and parishioners. See below for the Just Giving link.

Iʼm raising money to Roz Abbott's funeral flowers and arrangements. Support this JustGiving Crowdfunding Page.

Roz’s Funeral Flowers
If you are able to contribute to the cost of flowers for the funeral of Roz Abbott the flowers arrangers would be most grateful.
Roz was a great flower arranger and it would be lovely if we could make the church look beautiful for her funeral. Any contributions can be handed to Enid Pryce-Jones.
