On Sunday I celebrate my last Eucharist at our 1030 service. It has been a real privilege to serve the Lord these past eight years as Vicar of the church of St Francis here in Shoreham. I am grateful for all the love and support I have received from my colleague Fr Michael and my PCC and Congregation
I love you all

Phew what a weekend! It began on Friday evening when the PCC and clergy had dinner with +Gavin and his wife Helen at the Star Steyning, fabulous food. Then on Saturday at the Shoreham Centre + Gavin addressed an audience from far and wide, Anglicans and Roman Catholics and some non conformists too. +Gavin exhorted us in a most thrilling and alarming and encouraging manner; evident by the questions posed afterwards.
Then on Sunday +Gavin preached on Luke 18:1-8 and celebrated the Eucharist. The service was followed by a parish lunch. We were blessed too with a number of visitors. As Vicar I want to acknowledge the hard work by my Church folk and especially my curate Fr Michael. It would be remiss if I did not say thank you to the person who made a very generous donation of a £1000. To help finance this event. Finally to say thank you to +Gavin and Helen for giving up a weekend and traveling from Shropshire to fellowship with us.

Our Church Family Fun Day and BBQ was a huge success. We also had a super raffle with lots of prizes all donated for our charity project to purchase a Shelter Box. Having already supplied one by earlier efforts. The day raised £300 for which we give thanks. Our total to reach is £595 so we have a bit more work to do. I am grateful to those of my Church who worked so hard organising and running this event. Thank you.

Attended the funeral today of one of my church family. Renee had been a member of my. Congregation for four years. I was in the body of the mourners in the service conducted by a Priest of another church. This is what happens when folk do not make their wishes known. The family hail from Liverpool.
I had much I could have contributed, since Renee had been quite a character and full of fun and someone who was always willing to role up her sleeves when jobs needed to be done.
Rest in peace and rise in glory.
It was a privilege to have known you.

Our Bishop popped into our Cafe Church this morning. It was great having him fellowship with us. He also encouraged us with a word from Colossians 2:6-19 from it he was able to give some pointers for being bold and trusting the Lord for the future. Especially in light of my pending retirement in December, he also taught us a new hymn and his guitar playing enriched our worship time.

It is with sadness that we report the falling asleep of our friend and sister Margaret, who slipped away peacefully shortly after receiving the sacrament of anointing. May she rest in peace and rise in glory. Our thoughts and prayers are with Derrick and the family. X
