Shildon Alive is pleased to announce the launch of Shildon Together, a new befriending service designed to support people in Shildon and the surrounding area who may be experiencing loneliness or social isolation.

Our trained befrienders provide regular companionship through home visits, telephone calls or community meet-ups, helping people build confidence, stay connected and improve their wellbeing.

The service is available to over 55's who would benefit from additional social support, and referrals are welcomed from health professionals, community organisations, family members and individuals themselves where appropriate.

We are also looking for compassionate volunteers who can spare a little time each week to make a real difference in someone's life. Full training, ongoing support and guidance are provided by Shildon Alive.

Looking forward to welcoming people from churches across our Deanery this evening as we pray together for our churches, communities and diocese, we pray to shine the hope, light and love of Jesus brightly. This Thursday the 9th July is our next baptism enquiry evening at the church at 6pm for parents and prospective godparents. If you are looking to book a christening at St John's or St Mark's please do join us. There is a short presentation and discussion looking at what it is all about and at the end you can book a date. The evening lasts around 30 minutes.
