IT WAS 'HAPPY 90th BIRTHDAY' TO ST AIDANS CHURCH AND 'POP IN' MEMBER - ELAINE MARSH....

Elaine Marsh celebrated her 90th birthday recently with an Afternoon Tea at St Aidans along with her family and friends from the church and Oxspring Friends Pop In Club - it was a lovely afternoon and everyone was entertained by the wonderful Ralph Shaw who sang and played his ukelele - thanks to all who made it such a lovely celebration for a lovely lady - Happy Birthday Elaine from everyone in Oxspring!!

THE SEVEN HILL STOMPERS AT ST AIDANS.....

7 Hills Stompers ( Pen*stone Line Dancers) are a Line Dancing Group who meet at St Aidans on Tuesday afternoons from 2.00 p.m. to 4.30 p.m.
We are currently at capacity and are unable to welcome any new dancers t the present time, but we will be sure to announce when we are able to re-open the register.

A Line Dancing Group also meets on Wednesday evenings from 7.30 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. It is an advanced group and unfortunately we are not able to accommodate beginners.

IT'S ALMOST TIME TO 'MUNCH AND MINGLE' AGAIN AT ST AIDANS!

Don't forget to put Saturday 6th June in your diary for our summer 'Munch and Mingle'. We've got two new stall holders for you to browse, one is flower arrangements and the other is home-made preserves and sweets. In addition to our usual stallholders, our popular raffle, and of course bacon/sausage sandwiches, a cuppa and a natter - what are you waiting for?

It's all to raise funds for St Aidans Church and Oxspring Friends, both of which are here to help the community of Oxspring come together and include everyone in village life - we can't wait to see you on the 6th!!

IN MEMORY OF SHIRLEY HORN....
Everyone at Oxspring Pop-In Group would like to thank Frank and the Horn family for their kind donation following the passing of Shirley. Shirley was a regular attender at the Pop-In Group at St Aidans Church and Community Hall, and she always enjoyed a sing-a-long!

Sadly, she passed away just after her 90th birthday, which everyone at Pop-In celebrated with her - cake and a wee toast were very much enjoyed by everyone!!

Oxspring Pop-In Group meets every Wednesday between 2.00 p.m. and 4.00 p.m. and everyone is welcome - it's a really friendly group and they would be delighted to see you.

Come along to St Aidans, Oxspring, for a grand morning out on Saturday 2nd May - we'll be there from 10.00 a.m. to 12 noon with the kettle on, the bacon and sausage sizzling and great company - what more could you ask for on a lovely spring day!

There are always craft stalls and a bric-a-brac, as well as a raffle for you enjoy, and funds raised are split equally between Oxspring Friends and St Aidans Church.

We look forward to seeing you on Saturday.

ST AIDANS CHURCH AND COMMUNITY HALL CELEBRATES £20,000 OF NATIONAL LOTTERY FUNDING TO IMPROVE IT’S FACILITIES!

St Aidans Church and Community Hall serves the village of Oxspring in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, as well as the wider area of Pen*stone and surrounding villages. It has been granted £20,000 to go towards brand new toilet facilities and an improved entrance to make it easier for people in wheelchairs to access the hall.

Opened in the early 1960’s, St Aidans Church and Community Hall is currently the only community facility in the Parish of Oxspring and is used by around twelve community groups each week, with church services being held once a month and many individuals using the hall for parties, fund raising events and other community projects.

The current toilets require upgrading to meet the needs of 21st century life, and this funding will achieve this aim. In order to welcome more families with young children, the new facility will include baby changing facilities. The current facilities, because of their age, are very difficult to keep clean and newer facilities will be easier to clean, providing a healthier environment for all who use them. Access to the building is currently via a double door to the rear of the building, adjacent to the car park, which is adequate, but has been identified as being potentially too small, given that many people use wheelchairs and other motorised equipment that is becoming larger. The access requires the user to do quite a sharp turn upon entering the building and a larger, more accessible entrance will ensure that all users of the building can do so safely.

I am very pleased, on behalf of the church, to have received £20,000 towards the work required to upgrade the current toilets and entrance at St Aidan’s, Pen*stone. This certainly helps us make these improvements and to welcome more people to this valuable community asset.

SPRING HAS SPRUNG - AND IT'S TIME FOR OUR MONTHLY 'MUNCH AND MINGLE'.....

Spring is most definitely in the air, so why not have a morning out in the sun and wander down to St Aidans on Saturday 2nd May for our monthly Munch and Mingle – grab a bacon/sausage sandwich and a drink, have a go at the raffle and meet old and new friends – what are you waiting for??

There are always stalls selling a range of goodies to look at as well, but it’s mostly about having a natter and getting out of the house for the morning – we can’t wait to see you!!

‘Munch and Mingle’ is from 10.00 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturday 2nd May and all are welcome.
