💛 Our Wednesday Lunch Club at St John’s Ranmoor is back — and we’d love to welcome some new faces.

Every Wednesday, our friendly group gets together for a delicious home-cooked two-course lunch for just £5.50, with plenty of conversation, laughter and friendship along the way.

It’s particularly lovely for anyone over 70 who lives alone, doesn’t get out as much as they used to, or would simply enjoy meeting new people.

You don’t need to attend St John’s or be a churchgoer — everyone is welcome.

Perhaps your mum, dad, grandparent, neighbour or friend would enjoy it? Why not tell them about us — or bring them along for their first visit? 💛

It was lovely to have our choristers, juniors and pop up choir today at the All Age Service.
Backpacks were blessed! And we marked the start of the Season of Creation using liturgy from the new Feast of Creation in Christ. There were crafts using water as ‘Living Water’ is this Season’s theme. Video of blessing in comments. 🎒

🍽️ Our Wednesday Lunch Club is back! ❤️

Every Wednesday, we come together for a delicious two-course lunch, friendly faces, plenty of conversation and a chance to get out of the house and enjoy some good company.

If you know someone over 70 who lives locally and might enjoy meeting new people, making friends and sharing a lovely meal each week, we’d love to hear from you.

Sometimes it’s the simple things — a warm welcome, a home-cooked meal and someone to have a chat with — that can make such a difference. ❤️

Please spread the word to a neighbour, friend or family member who you think might enjoy joining us.

NEW SCISSORS PAPER STONE BLOG ✂️📄🪨

The fascinating story of Edgar Allen: ‘A Man from Sheffield’ continues in Part II, written by Sue Roe and based on her talk at St John’s Ranmoor.

Discover more about the man behind one of Sheffield’s great industrial names – from his reputation as a generous employer and host to the intriguing mystery surrounding his parentage, which may never be fully solved.

Sue concludes by asking whether it might be time for Sheffield to have a memorial to this adopted son of the city, recognising his work and philanthropy.

A fascinating piece of Sheffield’s history – well worth a read!

As the St John's Church, Ranmoor choir tour at York Minster comes to an end, a shout out to our amazing organists pictured below who’ve been playing the York Minster Grand Organ which has around 5,403 individual pipes.

Derek Grover, Julian Gunn (see if you can spot him..), Peter Heginbotham and Joe Hutchinson. And Mabel Bailey our fab organ scholar! Note: now edited to add a great photo of Julian at the organ console. 😊

For our last evensong the choir sang ‘All wisdom cometh from the Lord’ composed by Philip Moore, previous Master of the Music at York Minster. The composer himself was there to hear it and made kind appreciative comments about the choir and our soloist (pictured!)

And last but not least a HUGE thank you to Philip Collin, our Director of Music for his leadership and fantastic conducting this week and all year. 🙏 🎶
