Apparently this week is "volunteers week" an opportunity to thank and show appreciation for the fabulous contributions volunteers make across all walks of life. Churches rely heavily on the time, skills, generosity, wisdom and willing of volunteers, from doing flowers, pastoral visits, cutting grass, serving on committees, booking in baptism, leading music, making gallons of tea and coffee, remembering to buy loo roll, hosting toddler groups the list is endless.

While Inclusive Church don't need quite the same things, we too are hugely blessed by the contributions of so many of our members helping to bring the IC vision that step closer. From trustees, to regional ambassadors, church leaders, advocates etc

But from a personal POV I'd like to give a specific shout out to one volunteer specifically.

This is Emma.

She came on board helping out behind the scenes with various operational admin stuff in November. Right in time for the LLF Open Letter, which was quite the baptism of fire. Since then she's done amazing work assisting with our data clean-up, replying to emails, finding answers to questions we didn't necessarily know we had, helped me to stop procrastinating and actually finish a few things, proof-reading, tidying up digital designs and being a (sometimes incredibly bluntly honest) sounding board.
Basically making my life a whole ton easier!

We've never actually met in person. Not yet. So yay for technology!

But thank you Emma for all you've been bringing to IC central. It is MASSIVELY appreciated :)

(Next year I'll try and think of doing this earlier and thus list many more people!)

It’s a profound time in the Church's calendar; we've celebrated the fifty days of Easter, we've welcomed the gift of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, and we've contemplated the great mystery of the Holy Trinity.

This Sunday, we turn our focus to the mysteries of Christ's body and blood. Unlike Maundy Thursday, when we remember the Last Supper and the looming events of Good Friday, the Feast of Corpus Christi is a day of joyful thanksgiving when we ponder how the invitation to eat and drink changes us individually. It's a moment to recognise how, despite all that separates us, the universal church is one body in Christ, and crucially, how Christ’s offering of himself will heal all things.

Pray with us today.

Jesus, our way and our life, your love has broken every barrier down, and by your death and glorious resurrection, you unite all who put their faith in you. In this world of conflict and disunity help us to embody your grace: to be good neighbours, to be friends to all, to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world. Open our hearts to claim and cherish our shared calling to be your disciples, sharing our life and faith across traditions with grace and joy. Unite our prayer with yours, that in you your children may be one, that the world may believe. In your Holy Spirit we pray. Amen.

Join us with The Joint Public Issues Team for the 100th anniversary of the Beckly Lecture: 'Together towards life in a world of division'

The annual Beckly Lecture has been part of the Methodist Conference since 1926.

In a world where political leaders invoke the language of civilisation to justify exclusion, where creation care is dismissed as a cult and the stranger is feared, what does faithful Christian mission look like? And what does it demand of us? These are some of the questions that Roland Fernandes from United Methodist Church will explore in this year's lecture.
