Today at our morning service rev Andy Gower help us spend time thinking about one simple question: Why is Jesus good news?

We heard many answers — because Jesus is with us, forgives us, teaches us, gives us hope, walks with us through life and opens the way to know God. But we also thought about how we share that good news with others. Not by having all the right words, but by being present, listening, caring, praying and being ready to share something of what Jesus means to us personally.

Yesterday’s TARA Fun Day was a great example of that. Members of the church were out in the community making badges and friendship bracelets with children, chatting with families, helping the event happen and simply being alongside people. Sometimes mission begins by going where people already are, supporting what is already happening and building genuine relationships.

From Luke 10 we were reminded to look for “people of peace” — people who are open to us, willing to talk, share their lives and build friendship. Perhaps the question for each of us this week is simply: Who is the one person Jesus is putting on my heart? Pray for them, care for them, listen to them, and be ready when the opportunity comes to share why Jesus is good news to you.

And one final thought from this morning: people notice not only what Christians say, but how we treat one another and how we treat those around us. Sometimes the love we show is the first glimpse someone gets of Jesus.
