Thanks to all who came to our All Age service this morning. We had fun exploring the theme of " Being interrupted' based on a reading from Matthew chapter 9.
We considered how Jesus is interrupted by people throughout the passage. We often don't like being interrupted, but sometimes the best encounters we have with people are when we allow ourselves to be interrupted.
The people in the reading were all those who others would have considered outsiders and not worth their time, but Jesus stops and has time for each person as he sees beyond their labels and sees them as beloved children made in the image of God.
We often give others and ourselves labels. We had an activity in which we all wrote an interesting fact about ourselves on sticky labels and then we walked around looking at each other's labels. We had fun learning more about one another.
We need to remember to be like Jesus and see beyond labels. We need to allow ourselves and our assumptions to be interrupted.
