Last week two of our Nurses went along to lead a session at Woodhouse Salvation Army.
During the evening people got to know about Parish Nursing, and their local service in Sheffield.
The Nurses also put their CPR instructor skills to good use by teaching people about CPR and cholking. People were able to gain confidence in what to do if faced with an emergency situation.

Another day, another trip out for our Parish Nursing project.
Today the team visited the Shrewsbury Hospital in Sheffield, where Fr Parker (Chaplain to our PN Service) is Chaplain to the Community.
It was good to discover this 'hidden gem', which us a real oasis, a stones-throw from the city, and to spend time in thought and conversation about how the Parish Nursing project could be available to bring regular support to this Community through health and wellbeing activity.
A truly fascinating place!
Watch this space for developments over the coming months :)

Parish Nurses Catherine and Louise had a great time this evening with the ladies from Darfield WI.
Everyone received training in CPR and prevention of cholking, and were able to 'have a go', giving them the confidence to be able to help give assistance if in that situation.
Great work, ladies!

MATERNAL JOURNAL GROUP WINTER SESSIONS

Maternal Journal Groups are a safe place for you to explore the joys and challenges of this new phase of life. They are facilitated by an experienced person - ours is led by Parish Nurse Catherine, who is also an experienced Midwife, used to supporting people at this phase of life.

The transition to motherhood, often called 'Matrescence' is a time of huge change.

➡ Just like in Adolescence, Matrescence brings unsettling hormonal and brain changes, this time so that we can better attune to and take care of our babies.
➡ there are also changes in our daily circumstances, identity, relationships and financial independence. Gender inequality and resentment can rear up out of nowhere.
➡ emotional landscape can seem newly complex and out of control. We often reflect on our own childhoods and question how we can do things differently. It's a lot!

Spaces to talk about these subjects in daily life can be few and far between. The Parish Nurses - Carver Street are passionate about creating them, and our Maternal Journal group does just this - we listen for the real answer behind the 'how are you'? These are places where you can feel safe to explore your experiences, be seen, heard and be understood - all whilst being creative and meeting other new parents :)

A warm welcome is extended to you as we start our next block of sessions.
These will run online - convenient for if you may have gone back to work, or meaning that you don't have to get childcare as you can be in the comfort of your own home. They will run on:
Thurs 22nd Jan, 29th Jan, 5th Feb 12th Feb all at 7.30pm

Get in touch with me at [email protected] in order to book on. Look forward to hearing from you and look forward to more creativity together :)

The Parish Nursing Project wishes all a peaceful holiday season 🌠

This time is a beautiful reminder of the universal values we hold dear at the Parish Nursing Project: kindness, compassion, and looking out for one another.

May your home be filled with peace, your heart with joy, and your new year with good health. 💖

Our Street Outreach Teams work across Nottingham, Nottinghamshire and Sheffield every single day - 365 days a year. Christmas Day is no exception.

However, Christmas Day can feel exceptionally alienating and lonely for someone who is sleeping rough. We slow down to spend longer with people. We give out Christmas gifts and take the time to watch people open them. For many people, this may be the only present they receive and the only friendly face they see all day.

Merry Christmas everyone, if you can please donate here: https://ow.ly/zU3Y50XMWZl
