🎵'Til on that cross, as Jesus died
The wrath of God, was satisfied 🎵

Tonight we reflected on that cross; Jesus endured God the Father's holy and just anger towards evil and sin. Jesus the sinless one, took upon himself that wrath on behalf of us, the sinful ones.

This is Good News, this is why it's Good Friday. The cup of God's wrath was ours to drink because of our sin, but Jesus drank it down to the dregs. There is none left.

"For the joy set before him, Jesus endured the cross" Hebrews 12:2
We are that joy. Jesus has made a way for us to be reconciled to the Father and know forgiveness and freedom from sin. Our debt is paid and it is paid in full, by the precious blood that Jesus spilled.

And it gets EVEN better... See you Sunday!

Fruit of the Spirit.

LOVE.

Today we were joined by Phil from Community Church Sheppey who led us in worship and delved into the first Fruit of the Spirit which is Love.

While Adam Gregory from Hope Church Sittingbourne led us in sung worship, before we had prayers.

Love is at the top as it is rooted within all the other Fruits of the Spirit.

Love in this way is,

• Self-giving, even when it's not deserved.

• Rooted in action, not just feelings.

• Empowered by the Holy Spirit, not human willpower.

Something to think about .... When was the last time you loved in this way?

Fruit of the Spirit.

Today at Good News Sheppey we started the Fruit of the Spirit sermons, which were opened by our good friend Gordon Watson from Hope Church Sittingbourne
Gordon and his wife Natalie joined us in worship and took communion.

We started in Galatians 5:22-23.

Galatians 5:22 ESV
[22] But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

Galatians 5:23 ESV
[23] gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.

We cannot be all those things and still give in to temptation, still be led by our flesh.

We cannot have one foot in the kingdom and the other out of it.
We commit ourselves fully to a life of Christianity.

When met with unkindness, meet them with understanding and self-control. It is not easy, but it can be done.

Pray to Our Lord for strength in these times, to guide you in graciousness and to educate those who question our faith.

⛪️ Good News Sunday ⛪️

Today we continued on our journey exploring the Holy Spirit.

We started with sung worship, then led into prayer of Thanks and Praise to our Lord Jesus.
Pastor Matt led us into a joint openess and for some vulnerability in a safe space as he posed the question;

Q - What is one of your strengths?

This led into people also discussing their weaknesses.

We delved into Romans 8:26 looking at 3 key features of this scripture.
- It is OK to be weak.
- Follow the example of Jesus.
- Allow the Holy Spirit to work in ALL of our life, not just the good easy parts.

Something that stood out today was something Matt said,
'Jesus could've gotten down from that cross, he chose NOT to'
He knew what it meant for US if he stayed there and died for OUR sins.

In life we have moments of absolute despair, panic and weakness. In these moments we should seek the Holy Spirit lay down the moans and groans and ask, simply ask and pray for guidance.

We had a precious time together this morning ✝️🧡

We started with singing praise and making much of Jesus - just a tiny glimmer of what it will be like with multitudes praising Him in heaven!

Before we continued our Holy Spirit series we also had a time of family celebration with claps and cheers - and we had a time of grief-filled prayers with laying on hands and tears.

15 Rejoice with those who rejoice [sharing others’ joy] and weep with those who weep [sharing others’ grief].

What a blessing to be placed into a family by God as His adopted sons and daughters, becoming spiritual brothers and sisters who are with each other in every season.
