Do you have any old or unwanted candles that could be recycled?
As part of St Peter’s spring clean, we’ve been sorting through old
candles and remains of tea lights and trying to find a way to recycle
them. We’ve been in contact with St Neot’s churches team ministry,
which collects, not only new candles to be sent to Ukraine where
electricity supplies are unreliable, but also candle remains which are
melted down and made into “trench candles” which are sent to the
front lines there. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-cambridgeshire-68166082
We’ll be sending a parcel to St Neots on 14th June so, if you have
new or old candles or tea lights that you’d like to donate, please put them in the box in the porch at St Peter’s church Ightham by lunch time on 14th June or contact Judith via [email protected] and we will pick them up.
Let's shine more light in the darkness!

Day 5 - The Spirit of Confidence ✨

Today, let us pray that the Holy Spirit would help us respond to God’s call and share the Good News with our five loved ones.

Lord, give me what You are requiring of me.

In Jesus Name,
Amen 🙏

Day 4 - The Spirit of Listening ✨

Today, let us pray that the Holy Spirit would help our Five hear God’s voice and respond with willing hearts.

Oh Lord our God,
give us by Your Holy Spirit a willing heart and a ready hand to use all Your gifts to your praise and glory through.

Jesus Christ our Lord,
Amen 🙏

Following the announcement in the morning service at church today, we wanted to share the statement from the Diocese about the Installation service delay.

"This is to let you know that due to a matter that has arisen, Rev Stewart Gibbs' move to the benefice of Ightham and Wrotham is currently delayed. We appreciate this will be disappointing for you as a church family. We are unable to provide more detail at this time, however Archdeacon of Tonbridge, Nick Cornell, is in close contact with your Churchwardens, and we will provide you with an update as soon as possible."

As we explained in the service this morning, we do not have any more details at this time, but the Benefice Joint Standing Committee has already met and started working on a plan to cover this unexpected extension to the interregnum. Jane will be contacting various clergy to try and find cover for our services and the Standing Committee have identified possible back up options for any services for which cover is not available. This may involve more United Benefice services when we worship together at one church or switching from a communion service to Service of the Word. We will be in touch with more details and the new installation date once it is confirmed.

We will continue to keep things running as smoothly as we can until Stewart is able to join us. Please keep him and our whole church family in your prayers at this challenging time.

Best wishes

Naomi and Trish (Churchwardens, Benefice of Ightham and Wrotham)

Day 3 - The Spirit of Grace ✨

Today, let us pray that the Holy Spirit would help us reflect God’s grace and love to our Five.

O Lord,
in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son our God,
give us that love which can never cease,
that will kindle our lamps but not extinguish them,
that they may burn in us and enlighten others.

Amen 🙏

Thank you to all the volunteers who gave up their time yesterday to help with our churchyard tidy up. It's wonderful to see the wildflowers spreading across the unmown areas including oxeye daisies and star of Bethlehem
