In the words of Archbishop Hosam, with people around the world, we pray:

O God of all justice and peace
we cry out to you in the midst of the pain and trauma of violence and fear which prevails in the Holy Land.

Be with those who need you in these days of suffering; we pray for people of all faiths – Jews, Muslims and Christians and for all people of the land.

While we pray to you, O Lord, for an end to violence and the establishment of peace,
we also call for you to bring justice and equity to the peoples.

Guide us into your kingdom
where all people are treated with dignity and honour as your children for, to all of us, you are our Heavenly Father.

In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen

Update: the church and wider parish of Carlton and Drax, has been lucky to have a full time Assistant Curate, Revd Becky working with us for the last 5 years. This has allowed her to do additional community outreach and support the church community in reconnecting with a wider audience.

The post was set up with a five year time limit. Rev Becky is now moving onto a new role as interim Priest in Charge in the parishes of Brantingham, Brough and Elloughton. Her installation service will be 7.30 pm in Elloughton on Thursday 16th November, and her last service with us is October 22nd, at 9.30 am.

The new priest in charge will be starting hopefully in the new year. We are interviewing in October, and if you know anyone looking for a priest job, the deadline is this Sunday for applications! The new person's role will be different. They will have oversight of four churches St Mary's Hambleton, St John's in Haddlesey, St Mary's in Carlton and our church community in Drax.

If you'd like to see more about the role, the advert it is available here https://pathways.churchofengland.org/job/pathways/4557/priest-in-charge-of-the-benefice-of-carlton-and-drax-and-of-the-benefice-of-haddlesey-w-hambleton

Prayers welcome as we prepare for a new stage as a parish. Volunteers to support the work of Drax Friends as caretakers of the church and its building would also be really welcome.

Wow what a weekend - Lovely to celebrate Harvest together today with Hendrik our biking visitor! Exploring how outsiders sometimes see things we don't and how important it is to say thank you and share our resources. Collection for Food bank was very generous too. Was also impressive fundraising going on yesterday for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance at The Huntsman pub.
