One moment. A whole new beginning.
This joyful moment from Hazel’s baptism in August is a reminder that faith is personal — and
that a community can be there to celebrate with you.

Wondering about baptism for yourself or your child? You don’t need to know all the next steps
before asking.

Message this page and we’ll help you find the right person to talk to.

This Sunday, 13 September, St Wilfrid’s has Holy Communion at 10:30am, with baptisms planned as part of our church family’s celebrations.

You’re welcome to join us.

“Then someone invited us to Alpha.”

In September’s Connected, Maureen remembers enjoying church but still not really understanding what Christianity was about. An invitation gave her somewhere to explore it.

Perhaps you know that feeling. You are warmly invited to find out more at our introduction.

Introductory session: Wednesday 23 September, 6:30–8:30pm, at St Francis Church, Thorpe Willoughby.

The 10-week course starts Wednesday 7 October, 6:30–8:30pm, at St Francis Church, Thorpe Willoughby.

Questions or sign-up: Maureen & Jacqui, 07711 409811 or [email protected].

An unfinished project? Bring it along. Just want a chat? That’s welcome too.

This week there are two friendly places to enjoy making things and meeting people:

Tuesday 8 September, 2–4pm: St Wilfrid’s Craft Group, St Wilfrid’s Parish Hall, Brayton. Details:
June, 01757 704331.

Every Wednesday, 2–4pm: St Francis Crafters, St Francis Church, Thorpe Willoughby — knitting, sewing, crochet, crafts and a natter. You’re welcome just for the conversation. Details: 01757 703892.

St Francis also hosts Coffee for All every Tuesday, 10–11:30am. No church background needed to enjoy the company.

Grace & Josh asked…

Will we play games at Rise & Shine?

Revd Glyn: “Absolutely, there will be an active game, for all to play, each service that helps link our thinking between the theme and Biblical Story.”

A little taste of the children’s interview in September’s Connected! Rise & Shine at 9 starts Sunday 4 October, 8:45–9:45am, at St Francis Church, Thorpe Willoughby, then on the first Sunday of each month.

Breakfast, Christian worship and fun, with all children and parents welcome. Bring the family, invite a friend, and message this page if you would like to ask anything before coming.

More than a building. More than a newsletter.
September’s Connected is full of local faces and fresh beginnings: Hazel’s baptism, Maureen’s honest questions about faith, and Grace and Joshua putting their questions to Revd Glyn ahead of Rise & Shine at 9. There’s a diary of community activities too.

Want a copy, have a local story to share, or want to help with the magazine? Email [email protected]. The cover price is £1. (comment here / message us here is fine too!)

If a quieter midweek service suits you, St Wilfrid’s has Holy Communion on Wednesdays at 9:30am; St Francis has a Thursday service at 10am throughout September.

What actually is Alpha?

It is a chance to explore the Christian faith and talk about the questions it raises. This film promo offers a first look.

Our local group will bring that invitation to St Francis this autumn, with coffee, cake and conversation.

Our first ever full-immersion baptism!

A joyful baptism — with a very Yorkshire punchline!

A little throwback to Hazel’s baptism on 9 August. Alongside the prayers and celebrations, there
was time for a smile about the weather.

The ‘only in August’ line is a joke, not a booking rule! If you’d like to ask about baptism, message
this page at any time of year.
